This is the type of romance manga I enjoy. It has realistic aspects to it, including random, sometimes extreme fanatistes that don't necessarily culiminate in some electric connection in person. Instead, their interactions are just low-key and kinda awkward, yet show chemistry between them.

I have a soft spot for josei manga that depict women going through a big loss (death of spouse, divorce) in a non-dramatic way. There's no wallowing in despair while waiting for the next prince to pick her up. She's just doing her thing which sometimes involves oogling the youngins. It's good to see female characters not completely defined by their relationships (and yet can still form one by the end when she chooses to).

I love the beautiful art, particularly the "erotic udon" and how it changes with his interest in her. I'm a huge fan of est em and wouldn't expect anything less. I enjoy the designs of her characters and their range of movements and emotions. They're pretty animated. Murata has some complicated faces, particularly if she's scowling a bit. (like http://natalie.mu/comic/gallery/show/news_id/49030/image_id/75046 or http://natalie.mu/comic/gallery/show/news_id/62372/image_id/107947). Est em uses empty space well in the composition of her pages (reminds me of Ono Natsume) and I just like following the natural flow of the panels.

.... that all said, I may not be as old as her, but you couldn't pay me to date a 21 year old. Ick. 10+ year age gap is still very noticeable in that age range. But it doesn't stop me from reading all sorts of ridiculous age gap manga though~ Like http://myanimelist.net/manga/45297/Mizutama_Puzzle is really good. Godly Hidaka Shoko :O If it was finished, I could have picked this one. Or http://myanimelist.net/manga/25057/Game_Over which is finished and lovely~ Okay, I'm stopping~

There was quite a lot of thinly-veiled symbolism and suggestion of the moods of the characters -- almost to the point where nothing was really left to the imagination. Now he's into her and now he's not. Now she's confused about her feelings and now she's resolute. I felt a little disappointed by how predictable the romance was, but I did really enjoy the casual way their relationship grows, and their fickle desires waver and grow over little misinterpreted signals. On top of all that, "Professor Ex" adds guilt and uncertainty that thickens the awkwardness of their romantic situations.

It seemed like on every other page there was some symbolism of their desire for each other (or dejected lack of it), and the characters would be forced to rationalize it. The udon itself was heavily sexualized, both as they ate together and as he painted it. I'm not sure I can slurp udon again without thinking about this manga and blushing, so I guess that says something. The desire to be a nude model added to the sexual cues but I really felt it was kind of interjected clumsily. The nude art model fantasy just felt really cliche to me, and it could have been any non-art college if not for the need for that visual. However, I do suppose that mutual fantasy did deepen the sexual imagery as well as their compatibility -- since they both fantasize about it independently.

Overall, I enjoyed the casual progression of the relationship. It felt genuine and charmingly innocent. The art by Est Em really complemented this story well; her art really brings out the imperfections in characters' features and romance tends to make the characters (and readers) become introspective toward their own self-worth. Romance should be about accepting and overcoming that awkwardness, and finding acceptance in each other. This story with this art really hit that nail on the head.

I am a banana.

I'm not one to read straight romance all that often, but I absolutely adored this one. I just wish it was longer! Really would have liked to see their relationship develop as time went on!

It had some very silly and hilarious parts to it too which just added to the greatness!

Uh, I love this manga so much. The art and story may be both simple but there's just something that's familiar to it that pulls me in idk

will never forget the "erotic udon" masterpiece tbh

a pretty solid romance manga, very refreshing. i'm going to binge read all of the author's manga now since the art style is already worth it

A short but satisfying love story between a young man and an older woman. One thing bothers me it seems the mangaka doesn't like drawing backgrounds. Really feel empty while reading.

That was so cute! I loved the back-and-forth sequences showing their thoughts, and how both of them hesitated and tried to guess what the other was thinking. Masaomi was hilarious and it was also nice to see a divorced couple who didn't hate each other or where one didn't try to prevent the other from dating, for once.

Haha, after he confessed they've only been eating together while they're getting sexually frustrated. Love how she's ready for anything.
Aw.... and that's it. Well, they're obviously gonna fuck.

In the end, as he makes an excuse to invite her before they start he takes udon out of the fridge as she laughs about him loving udon.

... I wish we could have seen them have sex, along with more development of their relationship but nonetheless, the process of love interest to confessing was beautiful and enjoyable in how genuine and realistic it all felt. 8/10. Somehow simple but solid writing.

It’s disappointing how this ended as I liked everything about it so far. It has a much more realistic type of romance than most manga. They both fantasise about each other but obviously aren’t going to make it clear right away.

I can see lots of ways this could be taken further before it even gets to the sex. She could fantasise about how he might have a ripped muscular body that she’d love to out her hands and mouth on. He could fantasise about what kind of breasts she has. I think the first chapter was my favourite, as it showed them both fantasising about the others bodies equally.
