The movie is doing reportedly very well!! Already surging in the top 3 within 2 days of its premiere:

(February 26, 2013) Index movie hauls! Just a mere two days from premiering, Toaru Majutsu no Index Movie: Miracle of Endymion has raked in 100,760,000 yen in its opening weekend, an equivalent of at least 1,071,000 dollars at the time of this writing. The movie debuted third on February 25 in Japan's Nationwide Box-office records, just below international hits such as A Good Day to Die Hard and Ted.

Index wikia get credit for translation I believe. Alongside that for some brief reception:

Devi, the author of the Trigger Happy End blog, commented on how the movie has deeply moved him emotionally. The movie had at least 103,000 attendants, along with him, he was able to obtain the Toaru Majutsu no Index: Road to Endymion light novel. By 8:00 in the morning, the pamphlet that contained the Toaru Majutsu no Index Movie: Story Underlay was sold out, but was later available again for sale, allowing him to obtain his copy.

So it is, deservingly, doing incredibly well and of course an obvious season 3 is coming. :D

Yep. Was decided for a long time, but these sales only reinforce it and probably a 2nd movie.

Yep. Was decided for a long time, but these sales only reinforce it and probably a 2nd movie.
Second movie is not bad but I want to see Itsuwa mad faster.

XD I know what you mean. Guessing since Railgun S is this year, Index 3 is next year Fall again. Only reason Railgun took so long was because the material was not far enough at the time.

But yes, Volume 14 is going to be great as its very important arc too. Dat Itsuwa!

Yes! Volume 16 is also quite awesome for a lot of reasons. I'm guessing they will go up to Volume 17 for S3.

As Railgun S is on spring I bet either LB Refrain of Index 3 planned on autumn. But my bet is for the first one.
