| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- this show is actually quite good. I just picked it up a couple days ago. the animation might be a bit crude, but considering the show is about six years old it doesnt matter. i like the story so far. the show is a lot like school rumble...only better. |

| if they're going to go on and on about how beautiful s/he is then they could put a bit more work into her/his character design. s/he has to be the ugliest person in the series so far : ( at least by anime standards. |
| Boy the art and animation were far worse than I was expecting. To an extent I think it was intentional but yeesh! I don't think age really excuses it either. I watched the first two episodes of Maicching Machiko Sensei before this, which aired twenty years before this, and the animation was far more fluid in that. Anyway didn't enjoy this as much as I was hoping, I'll put it on hold for now. Dunno if I'll ever get back to it. |

You forget that anime before the early 2000s all use cel-shading, and in the early 2000s, the vast majority adopted the digital animation method...and it really wasn't great. Designs really sucked, and animation was still what you'd call primitive. In this case, age DOES excuse it, in the sense that if it had aired just three years earlier or three years later, it would have been using superior cel animation or far more developed digital animation. The early 2000s were the worst years for art style and animation in anime, with Kanon being one of the worst examples of this. That said, if you had a huge budget and very skilled animators, these kinds of shenanigans weren't an issue. Take a look at FLCL, for example, which was produced in full using digital animation. I think this series had a moderately high budget, and while face geometry is seriously warped, designs are generally bad and animation is mediocre at best, it's actually one of the BETTER-produced series of the time. Just be glad it's not Kanon, or any of the other poorly-animated series of this time. There were so many of them, though. Animation and art styles started to get much better after 2006-ish when people grew more accustomed to working with digital animation and it was able to handle heavier and more detailed animation. Animation got really tough when studios suddenly wouldn't accept cel animation any longer and digital animation became the standard. For artists that never learned how to work with it, it suddenly became a much harder process; more work, less quality. Besides that, pre-2000 series are generally animated better than most serious post-2000, be they 2013 or 2001. It's just that better art styles more easily cover up bad or just lazy animation. |

| Well. 2 types of gender benders One where guy becomes a girl and starts to self-discover and do many lewd things. Cannot simply resist such opportunity. Number two, where you are "alpha" male and stay same self-confident and selfish thus simply become thug of a tomboy. Or well.. you you are way too "beta" then you just end up getting played by girls as girl. This one takes nr.2 approach. Seems like fun anime for the most part. |
