According to their press release, Right Stuf has acquired the original Space Adventure Cobra Series. It will be released under the Nozomi Entertainment label in two limited-edition DVD box sets and with digital distribution later this year. This will be the first time the series will be available in North America on licensed DVD.

Space Adventure Cobra is a 31-episode series from 1982 based off of a manga by Buichi Terasawa. Cobra is a sci-fi/fantasy about a man armed (quite literately) with a psycho-gun battling against space pirates and the evil Crystal Boy. Along with his android companion and his ship, the Tortuga, Cobra is always getting into trouble.

The DVDs will feature the original Japanese audio track with subtitles.

Right Stuf's previous acquisition was Rose of Versailles. There seems to be a trend here now that they've acquired another classic. If they keep this up, they might get a hold of Legend of the Galactic Heroes! *cough*
