Title...

I think it was cuz I was not allowed to have beard in the army.
So when I was done I started to grow a beard, I did not shave at all or groom.

Though after a while I though it was rather annoying and just felt like it was in the way.
So I shaved and had just a short Chin Curtain.

But after a while I got enough growth on the sides of my mouth so I could get a good looking full beard, though I do keep it short and I shave under my chin and my throat.
I did choose this style cuz I think I look better in it then just the chin curtain. see the pics in the pic thread for my current beard.

The reason for my current beard style is cuz One of my goals is to get the goatee and mustache like Mr Gordon Freeman have. Though my soul patch area isn't really good enough, I don't got enough color so it isn't to visible, pretty much.

I chose to grow a beard for two reasons. The first one being laziness and the second one being it makes me look older. The last time I shaved my beard off I got asked for ID all the time, until it grew back. ( I am almost 22 )

Laziness is one factor. Also, shaving is for people who like to smell and waste their time, money and skin cells. I can't speak for anyone else, but where I live razors are damn costly, shaving foam all smells horrible and scraping sharp things across one of the body's most sensitive areas against the clock while in a state of partial wakefulness at best doesn't strike me as a great idea.

Another thing is that I enjoy people's reactions to it. Because of mine, people's guesses of my age vary wildly. I get anything from 18 to 35 (I'm 27). People also display some sort of revulsion to it from time to time that I find hilarious, and their so-called rationale is usually equally laughable. Personally I find it incredibly easy to keep it clean but loads of people seem to assume one drops food in it and so on. Hate to think how they must eat - presumably they still use bibs.

Yes Indeed, dropping food in my beard hehe no I don't think so.
Yeah beard seems to be some sort of taboo almost.

I really feel a stronger bond to ppl with beard, the few that i see.

About shaving, yes I agree that it feels abit uneasy to shave, I know of more ppl that thinks the same. That the razors and machines hurt your skin.

I must add that I actually I am abit lazy to it is so nice to not have to use razors and stuff, and bad smelling shaving foam. Though I DO shave but just a small part under my chin/ my throat.

Maybe one of the reasons for me growing a beard is the fact some characters I like have beard and I want ti have some connection with them, maybe.
But I also like to be different and it is more common to see shaved ppl so bear makes me abit different.

Total pogonophile (lover of beards) so I had to grow one. I am a gay man who loves bearded men. Wish there were more bearded characters in anime and manga. My all time fav is still Mikhail from Plastic Little. He is perfect.

There are very few bearded characters in Anime for sure.
Could it be because of the fact Japanese ppl do not have much beard growth?

I am not sure, maybe it is abit like tatoos a sort of taboo?
