Not recommended. Considering AO is nowhere near as good as Eureka Seven, I'd tell you to keep looking for a E7 release that fits what you want. If you have 30GB to spare, download the CoalGirls release.

You aren't going to find a widescreen release cause it wasn't made in widescreen resolution.

If it bothers you that much you could stretch it to your screen using your media player...

Edit: OZC offers an upscaled version at 1440x1080p. I say get that.

^ Completely agree with this.

Also why would you stretch it? Black bars on the sides are better than deformed picture.

I'd rather suggest you watch E7 and treat E7 Ao like a bad memory that never should have happened.

Since eureka ao is not as good as eureka 7 i suggest you finish ao and watch as a prequel. Because watching eureka 7 first then watching ao would probably make you drop it before you finished. Since it is such a downscale compared to the original. Im not saying it's a bad anime but it can never come close to what eureka 7 put in our hearts. They always talking about this other world and the people within it. Im going to rewatch Eureka 7 after Ao finishes all this foreshadowing on the series but i cant remember much since i watch on Adult swim waaaay back.

Im actually surprised i haven't watched since then. Hope that helped

I am pretty sure BONES made E7... and then made a sequel called E7AO.

So from this I can conclude that you should watch E7 first and then AO.

If you watch AO first/only it will be a bad expirience

You can, I watched 18 episodes of this without seeing the Eureka Seven. You dont really miss out on anything. I did go back to watch E7 cause I was bored and it was pretty good even if really dragged out and way too focused on rohmance.

Eureka Seven AO and Eureka Seven are related somewhat, but AO is not that great, IMHO. And if you watch AO before the original, then you won't go "AHHHH, snap!" at references, images, and specific characters, blahblah, you'll eventually know what I mean.

Eureka Seven Ao is the sequel of Eureka Seven,
so I'd suggest watching its first season Eureka Seven.

and if possible I'd also recommend (if it is stubborness) to just watch it and ignore wanting it in widescreen.

ive watch both Eureka 7 first series as well as the movie Pocket Full of Rainbows and now watching Eureka7 AO and i can safely say you can watch Eureka 7 AO without watching the previous series
their is enough explanation on where Eureka for example came from, its just that when you watch the first Eureka 7 series you will get excited to see CAMEO appearances of old characters/objects on Eureka 7 AO

but story wise its fine to watch Eureka 7 AO as a stand alone series

to give you an idea the previous Eureka 7 series is more on Character-Driven story while Eureka 7 AO has more Plot-Driven story that means less character development that most people hate but with a lot of plot twists and turns
you know most people like them Character-Driven story with consistent and well define character interactions and they can relate and picture the characters every thoughts mehhh

i like Eureka 7 AO im in the minority, but i will hate Eureka 7 AO if it will end up with an Open Ending i mean seriously doing a anime that has a lot of story twists and turns that constantly make the whole plot uncertain/vague and then end up with a Open Ending? that will be a garbage story telling

Initially it looks standalone, but it's completely not. You would be so confused in the second half of AO without seeing E7 first. And even initially, those who haven't seen the first series wouldn't know to question the setting aside from not knowing what a trapar or a scub coral is, while someone who had seen E7 would know that many things are inconsistent compared to the original E7 universe. Heck, I'm still rather confused and I have seen E7.

better yet dont watch this show
"Why do I always realize it... when I've already lost it..." -Guts, Berserk
"Some things are beautiful because they cannot be obtained." -Gilgamesh, Fate/stay night
"We are constantly living in a peaceful world that somebody else won for us. Even if it were only a day of peace, I will be grateful for its value." - Minashiro Tsubaki, FAFNER
"Screw you, future me!" -Makise Kurisu, Steins;Gate
"We used to show off by waging wars and whatnot." -Watashi, Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita
"Call me Moses. I'm going to part the sea of students before your eyes." -Moses?, Valvrave
"Time is guilty." -Andō & Tomoyo, INOU-Battle

Completely justified imo; considering how terrible it really is compared to E7

Probably a bit late, but whatever..

I wouldn't suggest it, some people don't like AO because the first E7 really set the bar at a height and while I didn't like the direction they went with it like focusing on the son more than what happened afterwards I overall think it was really a good show, while there are still 2 more episodes to go of this season I've liked it thus far.

Could you watch it first without watching E7 ? my personal opinion, nope! sure its a different story but there are flashbacks and stuff that would really make sense and cement the story even more if you watched the original or previous E7.

Yeah I agree I've liked it a lot as well and also think it's a really good show, even if it hasn't reached it's full potential so far like E7 did to indeed set the bar so high, and actually I don't mind at all that it focused on their son.

MAJOR spoiler, please don't read if you haven't been watching!

Totally agree, I'd say watching both is best to be familiar with everything and catch everything.
