THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- Here we are, the last chapter of volume 12. Summary below the fold The chapter begins with Reiji sitting in the park eating a sandwich and a drinking a coffee from Starbooks. The caption reads "As people change around him, Reiji remains bewildered; what are the recurring thoughts in Reiji's heart?" Reiji recalls when he came home bringing takeout takoyaki, only to find that Aoki has already brought the same takoyaki to Rin. "These takoyaki's are a lot like me," said Rin. "Huh?" asked Aoki. "They're hot on the outside and dripping wet on the inside." It was at that point where Reiji loudly made his entrance. Back at the park where Reiji thinks, "I've dedicated my life to Rin, which made it worth living. But she's not going to be a child forever. One of these days she'll leave this home and go straight for Aoki. "After that, what will I--?" However during his pensive state, a bunch of pigeons have perched on him thinking he's a statue XD He continues: "Unlike others, I have nothing else I can dedicate myself to and no life objectives. I am different from anyone else." At that moment, a couple of kids come running to the pigeons and Reiji finally moves to brush the birds off of him. However, the pigeons flying away reminded him of Rin, who was about to take wing from her nest. "As time goes on people change," he continues thinking. "The only ones who don't change are the dead... I want to see Aki-san." The scene switches to Futatsubashi Elementary where Aoki is filling out his transfer application when Houin calls out to him: "Aoki-sensei! Guess what? Shirai-sensei is..." But Shirai stops her before she can say anything else. "I can't believe the sake made me say what I did with him," Shirai says later in the hallway. She then turns to Houin, "Don't tell anyone about me and Oyajima-sensei. If you do, then I'll tell people what you did last night." "Huh? But last night, we..." Houin tries to recall what happened: she got drunk off her ass and solicited random guys at the bar for sex, but Shirai saved her and took her home by taxi despite Houin's protests, however her mood shifted as she tells Shirai that she's so nice and proceeds to kiss her (much like she did Chika back in chapter 55) while Shirai demanded that she stop feeling her up. "Wait, did I do anything to you?" Houin asks. "Drop dead," a blushing Shirai replies. "If the PTA ever found out about your drunken escapades, forget about a stern warning, you'll be facing either a paycut or a suspension! Take my advice, stop drinking you horny drunk!" "I'm sorry, Oyajima-sensei!" "Apologize to me!" At that point, they both get an announcement to go to the principal's office immediately. "We've received a complaint from the PTA," says the Principal Shimada. "Houin-sensei." "Y-Yes?" says a teary-eyed Houin who is also with Aoki in the principal's office. "Is it true that you are in a relationship with Aoki-sensei?" The two teachers reply "Huh?" We go to Class 6-2 where the kids are in an uproar while the three girls look on. "6-1 is also doing self study too!" "They were both called to see the principal!" "I wonder what happened?" "Hey, speaking of the principal, did you see this?" "What? What?" Back in the principal's office, Shimada continues: "There's a rumor spreading among the kids, that during the camping trip, the two of you had a tryst at night." The two teachers are shocked that the kids saw them. "Huh?" thinks Aoki. "Then that means Kokonoe knows too? If that's the case..." Shimada continues: "We cannot have that between fellow faculty. The PTA is complaining that the parents can't explain your actions to their kids. We're finally getting more kids at this school, I wish you wouldn't sully the reputation of this institution." Aoki continues thinking, "Those words Kokonoe said..." "What will I do?" thinks Houin. "Now I got Aoki-sensei in trouble!" Shirai and Oyajima stand by barely containing themselves, as not only have they done trysts at the camping trip, Shirai popped the question to him there, Oyajima kissed Shirai in the After School Club, and the kids (Kuro, Noriko) know about them. "P-Please accept my apologies!" pleads Houin. "Cut my pay, put me on suspension, anything! This is all my fault, Aoki-sensei is not to blame!" Aoki recalls how Rin asks if she is still part of him. "She's..." Aoki breaks his silence. "Is that so bad?" Houin turns to him in shock, "Aoki-sensei?" "She's just a kid, but she..." thinks Aoki as he continues: "Is it a crime if people love one another?" It is at that moment the three girls have snuck out of class and are peeping in the window of the principal's office. "We tell children to grow into loving people," Aoki continues, "but when that love turns into romance, why do we immediately call it unseemly? Is it because of the sexual nature? It's like we're telling these kids that romance is a bad thing. Thanks to that, we're now getting late marriages and lower birth rates. What are we supposed to do?" "This is about you, not the kids..." Shimada replies flusteringly. "Kid or adult, it doesn't matter! This is a human problem!" says Aoki. Even a kid knows all that, thinks Aoki. "Whoa, are they fighting?" asks Kuro as Mimi shushes her. "Every one of us has a heart! What that person feels, what that person thinks, what that person likes, what that person believes in, what that person falls in love with... all of those thoughts make that person into who he or she is! A heart is free to feel what it wants, you can't force it to feel otherwise! "So parents can't explain what happened to their kids? They should just go ahead and do it! Aren't they just using that as an excuse for their own laziness? People are free to love whoever they want. Neither Houin-sensei nor anyone is at fault!" "Aoki-sensei..." thinks a teary-eyed Houin. "That's right!" screams Oyajima-sensei. He then puts his arms around Shirai. "The two of us are getting married!" That gets a shocked response from everybody present, especially Kuro XD "Aoki-kun!" "Oyajima-sensei!" The two teachers promptly bro-hugs(?). "Noooo!" cries out Shirai in horror since Oyajima just ruined their plans to wait until the end of the next school year to get married. Shimada faces Houin. "Wh-What about you, Houin-sensei?" "Look!" replies Houin. "There is nothing between me and Aoki-sensei! I was the one who came on to him and he shot me down! Now please don't make me say that again!" Upon hearing that, Rin gets those large saucer-like eyes again, but this time she's dazed at how she couldn't have been more wrong. "What's with these lovebird teachers?" asks Kuro. Mimi, on the other hand is in tears: "I totally agree!" Shirai and Houin punch the two men down for being so stupid. Later, the school is abuzz with the talk of Shirai and Oyajima: "I hear Shirai and Oyajima are getting married!" "No way! For real?" "Wait, does that mean they're having sex?" "Eww, gross!" "Don't even..." We then turn to Shirai speaking to Houin in the hallway. "I'm sorry. I didn't know you were rejected" "You happy people should burn in hell," Houin replies darkly. "Yeah, yeah." "Congratulations on your wedding, by the way." "Thaaank youu." "Who'd expect a virgin would talk about romance? It sort of makes you laugh," says Shirai. "I wonder if he's in love with someone?" "He is, with a parent of one of his kids," replies Houin. "Huh?" "But he said he's going to let her kid graduate and move on without telling her." "So he's in love with someone's wife?" "Actually," says Shirai, "there was a time when Aoki-sensei was staying in a house where an orphaned child lived..." We turn to the school yard where some boys were yukking it up about how a gross, middle-aged couple are getting married, only to get chastised by Aoki. Rin then comes up to him. "Um..." Yes?" asks Aoki. Rin gets a peaceful look on her face, "Never mind." Reiji is at the school entrance looking at those two interacting. "Of course," thinks Reiji. "Once Rin marries Aoki and I have fulfilled my duty... I will go and meet Aki-san!" Back to Shirai who's talking to Houin: "But that was a long time ago. I believe a relative was the child's guardian." "A relative?" asks Houin. Don't tell me that's who Aoki's in... Shirai notices Reiji. "Look, it's him." Houin looks at Aoki, Reiji and Rin in shock. "So that's the love he can't tell anyone?" thinks Houin. So the fact that Aoki is in so much anguish, the frequent doubts about his sexuality, the fact that she, a large-breasted erokawaii woman, was rejected by him, it all makes sense! The girls say goodbye to each other, and the two men face each other. "If I'm gone..." thinks Reiji. "If I transfer jobs..." thinks Aoki. "Take care of Rin/Kokonoe" they both think in unison. The chapter ends with a posting in the new Futatsubashi BBS site, which, among several postings on Shirai and Oyajima's marriage and the usual stuff about periods and where they want to go to school, an anon says "I will kill the principal! He felt up my breasts in the principal's office. I think I'm going to puke! That horny old man, he's disgusting! Die! Die! Die! Die! Die!" The side caption reads: "The adults have made their decisions. But there is something else going on quietly in the shadows..." First of all, wow, what a speech by Aoki. Not exactly a love confession, but it finally cleared up that misunderstanding which was the overriding theme throughout this volume. However, it appears that Aoki is going to have to deal with another misunderstanding, this time from Boing as she thinks Reiji is his gay lover XD. But then Reiji, I dunno. On one hand, I'm glad he gave up his sick fantasies of raising Rin to be his child bride, but then he seriously thinks he has nothing to live for, so he's going to commit suicide in order to be together with Aki again? Hopefully Mimi can straighten him out. And then there's the principal. Is he actually molesting students like he did in that one promo chapter of this manga? I wonder how that's going to turn out? In any case, great chapter to end the volume on, it gets a five :) |

this chapter are fully of revelation, statements... and the classic expand of these stories.. just when the final are too close... another arc comes :/ there is no way, is helpless... aoki sensei is my truly real hero! the model and the way a real man must follow (lolita way :D) finally reiki acknowledge aoki, (at last!), two guys loving and protecting the same girl , to the point to surrender to the other for her sake... the worst issue of knj manga... psicological problems never been so easy to resolve ^^ i think rin's eyes at the moment boing revealing his dumping drama had other meaning: usually when someone rejected a confession, is because he had other love... so.. she deducted aoki love must be she... she even had sweat and impact fx :P... but a promise is a promise... rin seems to has a grip in it ("until i become an adult") |

That was an absolutely fantastic chapter. I really like how the characters are developing, but I'm a little worried for Reiji. I was particularly surprised at Reiji's thought that he was going to have Aoki watch over Rin. 5/5 |

We seen she is already doing the research. Thats highlarryus. I just thought how funny it is that the carefree loli when after her adult lover is all about creating sticky situations for him to be entrapped while the serious and quite one takes a more studious approach to catch her adult prey. |

I laughed so hard at this part that my stomach started to hurt XD Boin really is a bad drunk XD Kokujin-kun said: /Aoki speech/ The guy is totally right about all this and he put it into right words, if two people have feelings for eacj other then it is no vuisness of others to tell them to stop just because it may give birth to questions inconvenient for them. All this sick wife-husbandry plan aside Reiji really is just another broken person that never meant anything bad and really cared for Rin, he deserves a happy conlusion to his loneliness |

It's amazing how this story has progressed so well over the last few chapters. I absolutely adored this one and it was a fantastic note to end the volume on. AokixRin is essentially assured at this point in the future and seeing Reiji's plain acceptance of this was a heartwarming sight. He seemed to finally accept his role more as a father than as a future husband which I admit was creepy. It's clear now he just wants what is best for her now and I hope he gets his happy ending one way or the other as it seems he has a heart of gold. He just doesn't value his own existence enough and he should really try living for himself, especially now that Rin is getting a bit older and able to look after herself a bit more. Happy for Shirai, whether her marriage was being announced or not. It's clear that she will be happy with Oyajima and the facts about them coming out now could turn out to be a blessing in disguise. There is no more need for them to hide and they can just be themselves, even at work now which I'm sure will be a refreshing change for Shirai at least. Oyajima was already chill lol. When Houin said she had been rejected, seeing Rin's eyes and expression made my heart warm, I'm happy that that misunderstanding had been cleared up. It may even have made her love for Aoki stronger as I'm sure she could come to the conclusion that she is the one in his heart. It's plain to see after all, even Reiji has accepted it. All in all, I loved this chapter and I can't wait for the next one. 5/5!!! |

(this is the core of fun to me) he doesnt like to see naked girls ... but his love to Rin is pure, without sex desires, almost like a dad , 79 manga is key to understand that , i want to see AokixRin marry ... but is uncertain |

Wow, Reiji is in a really bad place. I really hope Mimi can sort him out and that she blooms into maturity realising that she can help adults instead of always being helped by them. I love how KnJ has progressed from its beginnings of a new Aoki, to how the girls are coming of age now they're in the last year of primary education (11-12 in Japan right?). I love how the children are seen as interested and confused by emotion, feelings of love and desire yet the adults are all suffering the same problems! |

So far, I liked this chapter 5/5. If rin is still 12 and she has to become a woman, then there are still 4 years left. In Japan 16 is the adult age right? If not then 6 years for 18. Regardless, will Aoki even wait that long? Also, the black haired girl may have a crush on Aoki.( Rins lesbian friend, forgot her name) I hope for more drama with rin and aoki because that has been the main interest for me so far, but with this leap it is either going to be the conclusion and a big time gap skips, or in the next chapter the author, which she has done in the past, will have Aoki say something along the lines of his speech not being about their situation and that he still thinks of her as a daughter figure. Anyways I am not convinced until a real confession is announced. With all these twist everything is still out in the open. |

The truth is however that such thing is a part of interhuman relationships and as such a part of reality, censoring it out by forbiding two adults to have such relationship because it would be troublesome to explain it to kids is just building a lie for one won convenience. Of couerse it is another matter entirely when an auldt kisses a child. |

I do think its awesome how he just accepts that one day they will be married but its worrying my how he equates it with the end of his life but don't worry thats where mini steps in to save him. We seen she is already doing the research. Thats highlarryus. I just thought how funny it is that the carefree loli when after her adult lover is all about creating sticky situations for him to be entrapped while the serious and quite one takes a more studious approach to catch her adult prey.
