I'm planning on buying both novel and manga, so I may be able to tell the difference when I get them :v (at least for the first books)

I wouldn't think the plot would be any different. It's just how you read it, right? Novels are more like your average reading book you'd buy in the store except with a few illustrations. So it'd give you more of a detailed view. I could be wrong but i've seen a few novels in some anime/manga based stores and they aren't that much different in plots.
