GKids to Release Momo e no Tegami (A Letter to Momo) in U.S. Theaters

According to animeanime.jp, the U.S. theatrical release of Momo e no Tegami was announced at the opening of the movie on April 21st. The movie will be distributed by GKIDS, and is planned to be released towards the end of 2012. The movie is also planned to be considered for nomination as the Best Animated Feature at the 85th Annual Academy Awards.

GKIDS is a U.S. film distributor company that has a solid reputation for its successful track record of securing various Best Animated Feature Oscar nominations, as well as securing Japanese titles ranging from Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind to Summer Wars.

Momo e no Tegami has already been well-received worldwide at various film festivals including the 15th New York International Children's Film Festival, the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival, and the 27th Warsaw International Film Festival. The movie has also been awarded the Platinum Grand Prize at the Future Film Festival of 2012. Momo e no Tegami will also be released in Korea during the summer, as well as China and Taiwan within 2012.

I was lucky enough to see a screening of this a couple months back. It's really good. Look forward to this.

Whoa nice! I knew it looked good but this is super! I'm assuming it'll be Animation but I guess if the story is good enough it could land under Foreign Film... or both!

Good to know, though I won't profit from the screenings in the U.S. But I'm definitely looking forward to it more now :)
