Who set fansub records for wolf's rain?

I am currently writing a dissertation on he effects fans, and fansubbing have had on anime in America. I understand that wolfs rain was fansubbed at record speeds when it was first released in Japan.

I was hoping someone would know which fansub group this was (as my book doesn’t specify) and if possible, some evidence for me to use as a reference.

i have a feeling this fansub group was based in Toronto...

Any help would be much appreciated.
