| Heaven's feel summary "Shirou awakes in the Kotomine church, and later realizes that Archer's arm has been grafted to his body with Kirei's assistance." "Kirei suddenly appears, intending to stop Shirou from destroying that which he long desired to witness." 1. Name a villian that's human, willing to help out the good guys to the point of performing repeated surgeries for them, fighting their battles (Zouken+TrueAssassin), only to beat the shit out of them shortly after. Only one badass priest comes to mind. 2. Someone pointed out that Kirei's conversation to Irisviel in Fate Zero at the Einzbern castle was "Woman, believe it or not, I did not come here to defeat you". That statement screams that victory is guranteed... even against illusion-using gun wielders. 3. No other villian continues his day job whilst pursuing his own hobbies. 4. He handles spicy food like a boss. 5. He is a boss in Fate Zero. 6. He refuses to acknowledge any worldy pursuits nor the desire to reach the Root, instead seeking only purer ways to live life. Other people all kill for the chance to reach the Grail; he sits in front of the grail in Fate Zero with the strongest servant that wouldn't lose, looking for a fight to the death just for the kicks. 7. He is the only villian that truly despises being evil. Not an anti-hero, but someone who constantly seeks redemption and wonders why his soul took such a form. 8. He only loses the two actual fights he was in; Fate Zero, through the enemy's quad accel of time control, along with firearms and unlimited regen. This is after he found a way to counter time manipulation with just the 6 Black Keys he had on him. 4 thrown black keys that to the time manipulator would completely corner his movements as he went in for fifth killing blow in the fight. And after getting shot point blank through his chest, he stands up and looks at Kiritsugu once more looking for a fight. Kiritsugu probably had his mind broken not from the chain of events, but at the thought of Kirei being battle ready in front of him again. 9. The other fight would be Heaven's Feel, where he fought with his heart removed from his body for a day or two? (Kirei's encounter with Sakura -> Fighting till dawn in front of the grail) 10. The greatest contrast is shown by the introduction of Uryuu in Fate Zero, as a mass murderer who prides himself on the despair of humans openly, Kirei's critique on him demonstrates the clear distinction of being a villian. One just openly kills, Kirei on the other hand, betrays, uses the dagger he receives as a present to kill the one who gave it, following up with giving the dagger to the daughter of the deceased, all the while looking forward to seeing the despair on the little girl. I have never seen GREAT villians depicted at making little girls unhappy, so I would assume Kirei is again the greatest in another category, especially with the small mention of Kirei constantly giving clothes to Rin that she wouldn't look good in. 11. I've read fan comments judging characters in the series by how many seconds they can last against Kirei. 12. Even in Carnival Phantasm, a seemingly funny OVA series, he's completely serious when he pulls the knife out of the floor and says, "Yea, I guess I'll kill Lancer". 13. Tell anyone who knows Japanese that your favourite anime character is called Kirei. They'd prolly envision some sort of angelic figure. They'd be right. |

So much so that he wonders what counting walnut branches will reveal to him about the meaning of life that a roaming retired hitman found in his journeys around battlefields in the world. http://danbooru.donmai.us/post/show/1111585/ Ryuunosuke calls him thick headed http://danbooru.donmai.us/post/show/1111587/ Calls him out on the fact that his eyes were sparkling when he saw Ryuunosuke's artwork that he's actually just like him, even inviting Caster to celebrate another comrade joining them. http://danbooru.donmai.us/post/show/1111589 This also points out that even though he sees Ryuunosuke's action as unethical, he was originally unable to kill someone unless its on orders of the Church, despite the fact that most level headed individuals would have stopped a mass murderer like him given the opportunity. This shows to me at least, that even a fan piece such as this recognises the fact the Kirei values life and is unable to kill of his own volition, seeing himself as someone who doesn't have the right to take another person's life, as he has no goals of his own. He's willing to put his limited life in Heaven's Feel to bringing Avenger into the world, as he feels that everyone has a right to life. This is in line with the Church's stance on abortion, and following that, I actually feel that a character such as Kirei's has a more noble cause than the others in Fate Stay Night. Contrast the reasons the other Servants participate in the war for: Caster - Prolong the war and her time with Soichirou. Berserker - ROARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!! Archer - See and be reminded of his past self and people he started out life with, such as Rin, Illya and Saber. Perform duties as a Counter Guardian in the meantime. Saber - Erase her past as King Lancer - Seeing how Bazett's existence was only known to him after he was summoned, I doubt his wish would be anything relevant to Bazett, seeing how his summon corresponds to his own wishes. Rider - I don't even think she considered winning the war at any point seriously, as knowledge of the Makiri/Matou family would have given it away to her at least, that the Grail was tainted and it is fruitless to wish upon it seriously. |
