Great end to a great manga. For a second there, I thought it was going to have a tragic ending. Given the manga's dark tone in general, that actually wouldn't have surprised me. But, I'm glad it had a happy ending overall. Those two deserved a break!

I gotta applaud Mars for avoiding the pitfalls of the shoujo genre or, like Beatnik posted in his review, transcending the trappings of it. So many shoujo titles are the same thing over and over again: naive, innocent girl meets perfect guy and then they spend the whole time wondering if the other likes them until the very end of the story. Not to mention they're usually not very realistic. Mars was, on the other hand, and the psychological part of it really enhanced the characters and story. Anyway, I'll be sure to look into more works by the author. She's very talented. 9/10

This was a great ending, beautifully balancing Rei and Kira's love together with their dreams of racing and painting -- both dreams of which they'll support one another in achieving as husband and wife.

My worries about Rei putting racing over his love for Kira were dispelled immediately in this volume. Then the volume ends with Rei being more appreciative of his life after his near-death experience, and he plans on reaching old age together with Kira. "It's so great to be alive."

Both of my critiques at the end of volume 14 were resolved with this final volume!

All in all, I am happy with how this manga turned out: a wonderful romance.

I did have some issues here and there with the story, but I won't be negative here. It was a very good 8/10 manga for me.

Edit: Also, I just want to mention how Mr Kashino, the father, might be my favorite character in the manga. This man loved Rei as his own son so much, even if they weren't true father and son. The way the two of them ended up reconciling was beautiful. Kashino wanted what was best for Rei the whole time, and was always there for his son even when Rei didn't know it. Mr Kashino's fatherly love for Rei was possibly the most touching aspect of the manga for me.
