I had to make a pancake today...which I dislike greatly because they either burn, splatter, stick, or burst into flames...but, it was firmly stuck to the pan!
><
I got burnt BADLY before I could call my dad to help me flip it (he's a MASTER at that, and I don't know how he does that).
I put butter on the pan to NOT make it stick, but it still did!
T_T
So...how do I make a proper pancake?

They are my one cooking weakness...>>

Maybe you should try to tilt the pan slightly, like your slowly shaking it...And if your not a pro use a spatel, trowing up pancakes is kind of a trick and you want to try and make them the normal way first. ^^

you don't need to touch the pan with your hands at all.
Use cooking oil, not butter. Butter burns. Cooking spray is ideal. Put a fresh teaspoon of oil, or another coat of spray after each pancake. Use a long, wide spatula and coat that in oil too, after each pancake. Wipe off any batter that might be on the spatula after you flip your pancake, that makes the spatula stick the pancake later, and it's really difficult and frustrating to flip the pancakes when the spatula gets stuck to them.

Flipping pancakes without a spatula is very difficult and can be dangerous. Obviously you learned that. It takes time and practice. I prefer not to do that, I more often than not, end up with pancakes stuck to the wall. >_<
=D I celebrate anytime I actually flip a pancake with just the pan and it lands back in the pan...in one piece......o_o;

*learned all the this from trial and error* -_-;;; Although, I will admit, I have never had unintentional flames in my kitchen.

I prefer to use butter instead of oil as it adds better flavor; but use a thin layer only, not too much. And just use medium heat, the burner doesn't have to be high. I use a non-stick frying pan and spatula to make things easier since I don't have a griddle.

I realize this is an old post but whatever, sometimes differing opinions help.

An easy way to make pancakes is to buy some frozen ones and toss it into the microwave, wait a minute or two, then take it back out. Add butter and maple syrup and there you go.. Hotcakes!

Clarified butter does not burn and has similar taste as butter when used for making pancakes. If you have one, use a non-stick frying pan and a wooden spatula, perhaps even two at first, to flip the pancakes.

Frozen pancakes can be used in a pinch, but I prefer freshly-made ones. They are crispier. Plus, if you make them yourself, you know what's in them.

For reference, a detailed description of very simple, perfectly tasty pancakes:

You don't need any special ingredients for this, so if you find yourself out of buttermilk or similar luxuries, these do the job just fine.

it is a very late reply but..whatever!xD
i understand u very well. i suck at my first pancakes too.but in the end i figured out what was wrong:D

it doesnt matter what kind of oil u use just heat the oil a bit(and u dont need much oil..just a bit is enough), low heat in the begining..make it medium when u used to it,it takes a lot of time if u use a small pan so use a LARGE pan in that way u can cook 3(+?) small pancakes(u wont pour much, right!) in one,DONT touch to the pancakes until they have small bubbles on them!dont worry if u dont touch them they wont stick to the pan^^ it means they begin cooked!and when they covered with small bubbles use a spatula to look if their underside is light brown, turn over them.u will see that they arent stick at all and when u done the first part u dont need to oil the pan for seconders~~

(sorry my eng is bad so im not sure if im using the suitable words>///<)

lets see now...well what brand of pancake mix do you use?try biscuick.it is rather simple and try using a laddle to pour the pancake mix into the pan.NEVER use oil or butter.use a non-stick pan.when the top of the pancake gets bubbly then flip the spatula, then use that to just lift very little or enough to see the bottom of the pancake.if it is golden brown flip your pancake.don't worry if it splatters in the pan just take your spatula and put it near the edges of the pancake.Pancakes can take some practice but they are diffently fun to eat.
