Yep, what it says Please mention the anime and its qualities or whatever else. It'll be good to provide a little background of it. How you go about it is up to you. This not some unorthodox review of the anime I have written below nor should anyone think that it is. It's an introduction, an attention grabber if you will. Make it worth reading. Make it fun. Anyways, I'll start with a few Bartender - Yeah, it's what it says: an anime about bartending. But this isn't just your regular "mix the drink for your customers and have at it" kind of thing. Let's not forget this is anime so anything and everything becomes more exciting for the most part. Let's remember Hajime no Ippo, Initial D and what ever else. Didn't think boxing or driving a car can be so cool eh? Anyways with Bartender, the main premise involves a bartender who apparently has some sort of "hand of God" which allows him to mix drinks that can solve the problem of anyone who drinks it. Each episode introduces a new drink and a customer, who in some way, ties in with its history and the meaning behind its creation. Through this, our drinker finds meaning in his life and reaches Nirvana as he sheds manly (or girly) tears followed by many thanks to the bartender with his "hand of God". Though as ridiculous as this little outline sounds as it is for me to say Super Saiyan 5 is just around the corner in the future Dragon Ball GTXPYZ, I have to admit what this anime tries to do is completely original and genuine. It offers the audience a little history and some sort of a connection between that drink and the thoughts and feelings of the person who originally created it. I have to say that all in all whether you're a drinker or not, Bartender offers a refreshing outlook and a personal yet historical perspective on the multifaceted drinks that we gulp down at the bars or at our own homes. Gakuen Alice - When I originally heard this title, " Behind the Looking Glass" or " Alice in Wonder Land" immediately popped into my mind. Well it turns out other than the wacky opening animation, this Alice is an acre wide and several stores tall. No no no, Alice didn't get fat and become addicted to those cookies (or whatever they are) with the potency to make the glutton taller. No, this Alice is actually a school, hence the name Gakuen Alice or Alice Academy which in turn, happens to be a school for the "gifted". The gifted... such people do exist you know. I mean we have people who are gifted in playing the piano or have an IQ of infinity but so what? Well here is a question: if you have a choice to throw fireballs or do calculus at the age of 12 as your "gift", which will you choose? Similar question: if you can become invisible or fit 30 pool balls in your mouth, what will you choose? Though the second question could go both ways, Alice Academy caters to dozens of kids from all over the world with gifts like the previously mentioned. So the story begins as two best friends from childhood are separated with one sent to this special school and never to come out again. Dissatisfied with the sudden decision, our picturesque protagonist goes to look and eventually join up with her friend at Gakuen Alice together. With all honesty though, there is no "plot" per se, but there are plenty of comedy and harmless fun that is sure to throw you off your chair. With that, I think I'll stop here and let the motivated decide whether they want to watch this or not. The best comparison I can offer is that of X-Men, Harry Potter, and Azumanga Daioh all clumped into one. |
