Can you read Godchild without having read Cain Saga?

I've recently discovered Kaori Yuki and bought a copy of Godchild Vol 1. Then I did a little research when I got home and found it it is a sequel to the Cain Saga. In your opinion, will I be able to make sense out of Godchild without having read Cain Saga? Or should I definitely read Cain Saga first? Thanks.

I think you should read Cain Saga first. There are important things in it, like family matters etc.

I've read it before Cain Saga, and enjoyed throughoutly, it can be either a sequel which completes the first part, or a great story of it's own, it's for you to decide ;)
