| I like both Keiichi and Battler, but i'd have to say Battler is better for the reason that Keiichi is a bit too naive. "Oh look! My best friend who killed all my other friends is outside at night wanting me to come out alone! Let's go!" T.T |

| Hmm. Well Battler is obviously my choice. but I've recently been reading the Higurashi vns, which have massively turned around my opinions of Keiichi. (The anime painted him in such an unlikeable manner, and the manga somewhat improved upon that but not a whole lot) @Atikal Oh my god, yes. That. | Keiichi needs some love, guys D: Battler and Keiichi are almost exactly alike. Except for age, and Battler's more perverted and naive. Although Keiichi had his moments in the VN, (funny as hell) the anime cut all the best of him out, besides the remembering other worlds, etc. But That's probably because he and Keiichi didn't have friends when they were younger. Well, Battler had his sister, and his cousins at one point, so it strikes me weird how he's more naive. But Keiichi, somehow I feel he's stronger than Battler. Not as smart, I'll give him that, but Keiichi and the crew probably beat them when it comes to how many times they've died. By the end of Umineko, that is. Keiichi didn't have any friends, Battler had his cousins at one point and his sister. Plus Battler didn't have to struggle through the Hinamizawa syndrome. That made things all the more worse. So saying Keiichi's naive is being like a hypocrite. (no offense). And one thing that I love about Keiichi in the anime is his hypnotic laugh. ;o |

| Battler is pretty cool, yeah, but Keiichi is just better. Especially in the Kai episodes. The Magician of Words, indeed. |

| I feel like... though I love both these dorks to death, Keiichi is a better protagonist. Note: protagonist. Umi's got the story but Higurashi's got its characters, especially Keiichi. He was essentially the key to Rika's salvation and drove the plot forward (his speeches omg). Battler, on the other hand, feels more like... an accessory. Sure, we see the story through his eyes, but it's not necessarily his story to tell. Keiichi accepted his friends no matter the kind of murder or circumstance, because their trust and friendship meant more to him than any other kind of logic or reason. It's such an endearing quality. I admire Battler for his faith, but he continuously denied the possibility that hey, maybe the people he loved weren't as perfect as they seemed to be. Humans make mistakes, and Battler wasn't willing to confront that. I guess these two are pretty much two halves of a whole... they're both extremely similar in the sense that one rejects while the other accepts, if that makes sense. They're both interesting characters with fantastic depth, but I dunno, Keiichi's resolve left a bigger impression on me than Battler's. T_T <3 |
