| When you read something like "Aquarian Age" you inmediately think about an epic anime where the world is going to be covered with water due to some natural disaster that jeopardized the human race, or something like that. But I couldn't find the nor the "Aquarian" nor the "sign of evolution" in this entire anime, and even less I found it enjoyable. At first this was a show about the japanese idol industry (music, gravure, etc), and some romance. But then, the producers thought that it was a good idea to combine those aspects with some supernatural crap, maybe because that was the latest fashion at that moment. And the final result was this poorly made anime. Anyway, the art and the music was good, but it was all wasted on this. I made this post because there isn't any information about this show on the forum. |

| "Aquarian Age" (or "Age of Aquarius") doesn't actually have anything to do with water (in a literal sense, anyway). It's a term for an "astrological age" which the world entered relatively recently, or will enter soon (no one can agree on this, apparently). It represents turmoil and change and is basically makes good fodder for a supernatural action story. And the supernatural elements of the story came first because this show is based on a collectible card game of the same name. This is why there are several different factions that it barely goes into. Broccoli has a history of overachieving with shallow, commercialized material (Di Gi Charat, Galaxy Angel) but this one was a bore. It wastes too much time (probably a symptom of a low budget that didn't allow much action in this action series) and doesn't adequately explain a lot of things. Maybe they were aiming at existing fans of the card game, but an adaptation that alienates newcomers so much is a bad one. |
