As it would turn out, finding the highest point in the Guardian's Academy wasn't very hard at all. The only difficult thing was getting to the top, to find the so-called 'Social Basket Case' and whatever was with it. Thane hadn't expected to be forced into a treasure hunt in exchange for the location of the Academy's head leader, however it just proved how important such a person was.
Grabbing hold of the side of the tower, it began climbing as best it could. Since it was quite used to climbing steep, mostly sheered off cliffs from it's...earlier days...The ascension didn't take as long as one would think. Grabbing a hold of the edge of the roof on the Tower of the Heavens, Thane hoisted itself up and carefully stood on it's feet. Ignoring the spectacular view, it looked around the surface of the rooftop carefully for the 'Social Basket Case'.
When it failed to spot the Case, Thane reviewed the words he'd heard in the classroom. 'What's up with the Social Basket Case?' it'd been asked. Of course, no mention was made of 'the highest place', the only thing said of height was 'up'. But Thane had thought that such an important Case as the one used to find the object that locates (or helps locate) the leader of the Guardian Academy would be in the highest place available on the premises. This could mean only one thing: that not only was the leader of this Academy great, but clever as well.
Thane was frustrated by it's failure, and as many such a person may find themselves doing, it kicked the nearest upstanding protrusion it could find. Unfortunately for Thane though, the metal box sticking out of the roof wasn't properly attached, so it's kick met no resistance from the box and sent it flying off the roof with the box.
Mid-air, Thane was hit by a revelation that 'Case' could mean both 'something to cover' and 'file of an investigation'. Upside down it hit it's hand to it's palm and realized that the next place it needed to search would be the library. Thane activated it's armor in Sticky mode and attempted to throw it's weight sideways so it's whole body would smack into the wall at the same time and stick to the wall, stopping it's fall quickly and safely. Gravity, however, was not so kind. Thane stuck to the wall alright, and then proceeded to flip pancake style a couple times down the wall before finally coming to a halt on about the second floor of the Academy. It quickly released it's armor and flipped into a nearby window, and fell to the floor of the storage room he landed in. It took a breather right there on the floor, waiting for the stinging in it's body to fade away before it went to the library... |
