Funimation has announced two more licenses today with the acquisition of both Romeo X Juliet, and D.Gray-Man. Romeo X Juliet was announced at its Anime Central industry panel Saturday evening. At the same time as the announcement was made the Funimation.com website was updated with a splash page for its other new license: D.Gray-Man.

Also the release date for Ouran High School Host Club will be announced at an event on May 30th, 2008.

I'm most excited about the Ouran bit of this news. I've been waiting ages to hear when it'll be released.

But yay for the two other series as well. Wow, so many new titles grabbed by Funimation lately.

Wow, FUNi is getting a good line up, this is like the 6th license in a row. There's even more due this year like Ghost Hunt that was announced earlier this year. Hopefully at least a few of these turn to profit.

btw, I would of guessed Viz to license Gray-Man instead.

I'm thrilled about both of their new licenses, as well as their announcement regarding Ouran. I'm kind of surprised that they got D.gray-man though. That's something I would have expected Viz to get.

While these two titles aren't any I'm interested in picking up I'm glad to see that Funimation is putting out a wide and varied amount of shows. In just one week they've covered shoujo, romance, mecha, drama, action, and a whole lot more.

A few other things mentioned during their panel yesterday were Romeo x Juliet being released in 2 half season sets. Darker Than Black suffered a long delay due to waiting 8 months for the Japanese to give them any materials. Work just recently began on it. And according to gia who blogged about their announcements, they're releasing their 12-13 episode shows on only one disc.

I've been anticipating Ouran news the most so I can't wait to hear what they have to say about it on the 30th.

Awesome I'm looking forward to Romeo x Juliet. It's nice to see FUNi is taking on more genres. They used to be the shounen action studio but now they've been taking on greater variety.

Personally, I'm proud of Funi. They do good work and I can't wait to see what they do with these series. I can't wait to see what they do with D.Gray-man.

I'm sorta angry and sorta not angry about FUNI licensing D.Gray-Man. I knew the time was coming for it to be licensed I just didn't want it to happen so soon. Though I am happy that I can finally watch it legitimately.

But yeah, they better have a good plan on releasing the DVD's for D.Gray-Man. Because there's just no way that I'm gonna buy 3 episodes per DVD (and DVD's usually cost about $15 these days) for an over 80 episode series. That'll just cost way too much.

More like license one, get six free.

Well, I'm not complaining. It's good to get more anime exposure outside of Japan.

FUNi is usually better about that, I've seen they usually will do four-five a DVD. ADV on the other hand well...

ADV isn't that bad. Viz on the other hand put out Inu Yasha at 3 episodes per disc. Good thing they didn't get this one.

Wow they are seriously thinking about doubling their sales. When Navarre announced their short-term goal of the sales was $100,000,000, I thought they're just kidding. Last year Funimation's share of the anime DVD market in US was 37%. It will exceed 50% this year, I suppose.

Yeah I would have thought that Viz would have liscenced it since they own the manga. Anyway I can't wait to see voice actors sing the DGM openings lol.

This is why FUNi is on a license rampage: http://www.icv2.com/articles/home/12043.html.

Basically, they're acquiring licenses for titles that Geneon had picked up or planned to pick up.

I'm glad to hear that Funi grabbed DGM epically since I've been enjoying more of funi's dubs then Viz Media's lately.

With that said though I hope Funi takes the time to chose voice actors that won't be too off from their Japanese Counterparts.

What would be wrong with DGM being on Adult Swim? It has all the right qualities to be on par with other animes like Bleach.

Ouran release info? Really? Finally? Watch volume one get announced for December.

I was wondering when someone D. Gray-man was finally going to be licensed, but I thought that Viz Media had some type of deal with Shonen Jump since they've done just about all their other recent titles. It's good to finally hear about Ouran too, they announced in August or something that they would be doing it and it took them forever to come out with vol. 1. This really makes me wonder how long D. Gray-man will take.
