For a second lets imagine we have the tech to play such a game the way that it is in the anime.

From a narrative stand point it sounds fun to have tons of mysteries in your game where players have to do curtain things to unlock secret quests and stuff but when you have to play the game, doesn't it feel like majority of the game is inaccessible? To break it down its like only having 25% of the game playable but the rest is hidden and parts of the game that have been found are gatekept by other players (info on secret quests).

Personally i would lose interest in such a game but i dont know about others. I just want to hear your thoughts on the subject.

Presumably, there's already tons of things to do in that game. I think it works fine for hyper-realistic VR, but would have a lot of issues as a normal MMO.
If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.

Aren't most modern games like 25% of the game then dlc for the other 75%?

I feel like it wouldn't be a bother considering it's 1. free and 2. such a big game.

plus, I feel like the idea of a game like that, secret quests, and hidden story would make it more enjoyable as there's a world to learn about. if you think about it, SAO would be somewhat similar in gameplay since bosses couldn't just be located via a quest or map, and instead, you had to search for them.

As someone who has played pretty much every single free to play, non-region blocked mmorpg since like 2009, SLF seems to capture the essence of those games and you can see that the author has played them himself. Also, SLF is a relatively new game, so it doesn't have that much info about everything, so what you do? You gather info yourself or ask other players/exchange with other info, just like you would in a mmorpg.

@GTRaijin Eh. I've never played an MMO that even comes close to SLF's level of secrecy.

I mean it's anime, ofc stuff is gonna be a bit exaggerated ;d But the point is still the same.

Yeah I feel like SLF as a game is very badly designed. Inventoria is super broken and should not be able to be used in combat. And players can buy out all the items in the shop which is awful.

But yeah it is an anime so I personally let it slide and it’s still fun to watch.

That was how EverQuest was. You had to explore and talk to every NPC to figure out if they had a quest or not. There weren't any quest markers or anything like that. People played that for years. You literally had to look up quests on the net if you were looking for a specific one. So it's not an original idea and already done in an MMO setting.

If such hyper real VR tech exists I think the first thing people try to unlock is how to do ecchi 18+ stuff (assuming it's locked by some kind of safety guards, as they must be sold as M-rated game otherwise)
