| i'm curious, why are folks calling this Edo Era? this is the Tenpo Era, it spanned from December 1830 through December 1844. it is named in the very. first. frame. of episode 1. sure the Edo Period... went from 1603 to 1868 under the Tokugawa Shogunate... but the famines and political uprisings and the 2 fires that almost entirely consumed the Edo Castle in 1839 and 1843.. definitely earmarked this under Japan's naming system. i dunno, Japanese history is just a hobby of mine, maybe the naming systems are more complex than i remember. |
