How do you feel about this anime being in the modern big 3 and why?

I'm meh on this because I really like this anime, but it shouldn't be modern big three since it came out in 2016 and I think modern big 3 should be in the 2020s and I think Spy x Family should be here instead. How do y'all feel about this?

One Piece anime - 1999
Naruto anime - 2002
Bleach anime - 2004

It's just about popularity, being aired at the same time and length. The only argument against it being in a big 3 would be that nothing comes close to the original big 3 in popularity

Spy x Family is not big 3 worthy. If I had to choose, it would probably be Sakamoto Days, DanDaDan and Kagurabachi, going off of the fact that these are the biggest series in Jump rn and ongoing. I know I am excluding CSM and JJK but that's because they are a part of the dark trio with Hell's Paradise.

There's no "big 3" apart from One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach.

Instead, use "top 3 new gen shōnen" and that's obviously and objectively Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia, and Jujutsu Kaisen. Some might be asking about Chainsaw Man, Kaiju No. 8, Spy x FamiPEAK, Fire Force, Black Clover, Hell's Paradise etc and while I do agree all those are just as popular, they can't be in the top 3 new gen shōnen group since JJK, DS, and MHA are just more popular and well known plus they have more manga sales iirc and if you agree otherwise, then it's subjective and I'll respect that. (FYI, I don't even like DS, JJK, and MHA that much but I'll give respect where it's due).

As for "top 3 next gen shōnen", that's Kagurabachi, Dandadan, and Sakamoto Days.
Again, some might ask about Gachiakuta, Undead Unluck, Yozakura Family, Akanebanashi, Ichi the Witch, Make the Exorcist Fall in Love etc but whether you like it or not, we have to agree Kagurabachi, Dandadan, and Sakamoto Days are the top 3 for this aspect. As for Solo Leveling, honestly, I can't say and while I do agree it's just as popular if not more popular that one or all of those 3, it can't be among them and I can't explain why so please don't ask.😭🙏🏾

Id say confining today's titles and putting them under "Big 3" just to continue the namesake isn't right. Many titles are quite deserving of equally getting respect.

Referring to the Big 3's time period (1999 One Piece, Naruto 2002 till 2004 Bleach) their fan following wasn't at par with the aforementioned shows. Gintama, Fullmetal Alchemist and other very quality shows did air but then they weren't able to gain that much fan following so it's safe to say that the times have changed as not only do we have more people watching anime now but also a more global audience as compared to back then.

The only Big three are Naruto, Bleach and One Piece. There aren't any modern big threes. These anime might be popular but they aren't the next big three. There are no next big three. Sure anime became more mainstream and popular in 2020 during lockdown but that's it.

It's not about "deserving" to be part of the big 3. That title simply belongs to the top 3 battle shonen of the decade. So it's a completely objective fact. Whether they are actually good stories doesn't matter.

I’m split. While it did bring in a new wave of fans like the Big 3, it also feels a bit more distant from Demon Slayer and JJK, the other two members of its “Big 3” than the distance felt between any of the og B3. Which is weird because the gaps between release dates is roughly similar in both cases

"Big 3" to me is about commercial success, and MHA definitely fits that.

I only watched S1 and was fine with it. Never continued because I usually don't like when shows are designed to go on forever.

I loved this anime for real and when it goes big it does bring some out of the world tension and joy but with time as more seasons got out somewhere it was a little hard to connect. As big as it got but i don't think it can go anyway near big 3

i think my hero academia is a bit old to be considered modern, it's already 10 years old or so, maybe shounen manga like Sakamoto days, kagurabachi and Dandadan should be considered *modern* , feel free to put anything instead of these but you get the point
