So Cheng Xiao Xi is killed after the events of season 2 and then Lu Guang goes back in time to when they first met to change the path that leads to his death even though he’s told Cheng himself many times not to do things like that. So he goes back in time and we see them go together to Bridon to look for Cheng’s Parents but it’s a bit unclear what Lu Guang’s objective is since we don’t know exactly why Cheng Xiao Xi was killed. Can anyone explain? Or do I need to wait for season 3?

I love this Story, but this is why Time Travel is such a pain. LOL I'd wait for Season 3, but I did watch this Arc & I must say it was superb.

As per my theory, cxs died before s2 (judging by their outfits), I may even consider him dead since s1 began cuz lu guang didn't seem to know about li tianchen based on how s1 ended and his inner monologue.

so the current timeline is probably the one where cxs survives or atleast his death is delayed.

oh and about bridon, lu guang said it himself (in ep 4 ig) how he wanted things to go exactly as it should go so that he could prevent the inconsistencies around Cheng Xiaoshi's death and stop the certain node.

So for me we should wait for the third season to have a complete picture of the situation. But I believe, from what Lu Guang said in this Bridon arc is that he is rewinding everything for one last time, despite knowing that the knot of death is irreversible he can try to slow down and push Xiaoshi's death away as much as possible. Obviously there are a lot of questions and loose ends but I think next season will resolve a lot of issues.
