From what i remember, she's not mentioned or shown much in the manga as well. It's like the author completely forgot about her.
I'm not sure about the light novel though.

I do find it weird that his father played such an important role but not his mother, maybe she becomes important in future arcs so I guess we'll have to see then...

“choking drama”

This anime very enjoyable and interesting, it did not “choke”.

Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.
