"Kurokawa said, "It was decided from the beginning that there would be 18 episodes of the anime series and two chapters of the movie. On the site, we made 18 episodes of the anime series. We made the movie version from that. Therefore, the production was proceeding based on the anime series." Revealing the inside story"

Why don't they release the TV series first in Japan?
And even in Japan, many people are surprised that the ending will be shown in episode 0.

As an American, I wish we also got the Movie Version first. Seeing DDD in theaters would have been an awesome experience, and i much prefer long-form OVA and films compared to cut-up series versions of anime.

@Ketamigo Thank you for your reply. I was satisfied with the DDD I saw in the big theater. However, I wonder why they took this approach (from theater to TV series).

@kumajoi Yes, I have to imagine it was Crunchyrolls decision so that they could make more money by syndicating the films as a series that requires a subscription.

I also found it very odd that they used "Episode 0" as a hook in order to get people interested in the series. I am sure it is because there is lots of action and mysterious elements in the ending, but I still think it was a very poor choice, and the series would have been better if they did not put the ending as "episode 0".
