In 2014 Toei Animation, in collaboration with Nitroplus, Kinoshita Koumuten and Graphinica studio created a CG anime movie titled Expelled from Paradise. Even though it has just 7.30 score on MAL, the movie was a BIG success in Japan: sold 55,000 DVD / BD discs and won awards.

After more than a decade, a sequel movie called Liberated from Paradise - Resonance of the Heart was unexpectedly announced by Toei for release in 2025. One can only guess whether Toei will make use of the "illustration look" CG tech of Girls Band Cry in the new movie, or stay with the "cell look" CG style proven in the original?

In my opinion, PV of the second movie hints at a heavily action-driven plot, which would benefit little from the "illustration look" tech that shines in comedy and drama (due to the large number of facial expressions, hand gestures and body micro-movements it supports).

Toei studio is promoting "Girls Band Cry" and "Liberated from Paradise" (upcoming Expelled from Paradise sequel) together during the current Comiket 105 fair:

In the bottom row, there are two booklets from GBC director, one by GBC character designer and one for EfP / Angela Balzac.

It seems Iseri Nina's facial model was somewhat derived from the 16 year old version of Angela Balzac, it's especially notable in profile view.

Iseri Nina (Girls Band Cry) and Angela Balzac (Expelled from Paradise) themed gatebox devices are sold side-by-side in Japan. Studio Toei obviously sees the potential in marketing them together, since both have upcoming movies.
