Looking back, was Death Note able to produce a worthy successor, or at least a contender?

The anime is soon turning 20 years old, so I wanted to ask a question. It's clear that Death Note has become a template for a certain type of story over the years. To the point of raising entire authors obsessed with this formula like Aka Akasaka or naming any titles about the battle of minds "Death Note-like". So do you think that any titles could, if not surpass DN in this, then at least come close in terms of the level of influence on the reader and the elaboration of the elements of edgy magical realism and stylish detective thriller?
