Well, it was obvious that the MC would want to become a Navigatoria to create a wholesome 100 chungus keanu reeves nation, and that cheesy line he threw there is just perfect to make me cringe. On top of that, the bad guy already is on a redemption arc, as if this wasn't already overabused in modern storytelling...

This has become so predictable.

Bro, Alpha Centauri is literally 3 star system.

Pluto is about 5.5 light hours from sun (39.5 AU).
0.5 light years is about 31,620 astronomical unit. Stars of Alpha Centauri are separated by about 23.7 AU from each other. Farthest known object from solar system is "2017 MB7" which is 7,000–9,000 AU(0.11-0.1423ly) at the farthest point. Only (theoretical) Oort cloud could reach it.

0.5 light years is really close but not ridiculously close... So depends on certain factors Navigatoria solar system could have stable distance between "our" solar system, eg. Gliese 710 will pass through solar system with predicted minimum distance of 0.1663 light years.
Manga recommendation:
- Spy x Family (Ch.113/? - biweekly) | Sakamoto Days (Ch.206/? - weekly)
- MARRIAGETOXIN (Ch.121/? - weekly) | Machi and Oboro (Ch.23/? - biweekly)
- Make the Exorcist Fall in Love (Ch.87/? - biweekly)
- Monochrome Days (Ch.16/? - biweekly)
Anime recommendation:
- Deca-Dence (Finished) | Wave, Listen to Me! (Finished)
- If My Favorite Pop Idol Made It to the Budokan, I Would Die (Finished)
- Diary of Our Days at the Breakwater (Finished)

@Nieznajomy43 we are implying they come from Earth, and not from a different planet. Earth's nearest start is 4ly in distance. Gliese 710 will pass near our solar system in 1.3 million years. A star passing 0.5 ly away the size of the sun would have considerable gravitational impact on outer solar system bodies and planets, and would likely send tons of meteors towards the inner solar system. Make it get closer or double the size of the star and things will become even more catastrophic.

I don't see it realistic to just slap "0.5ly away" for the story because that's just unlikely and convenient. It'd be easier to just outright claim the development of FTL travel (which is literally impossible) or the development of wormholes as things that happened in the manga's universe and then claim that at least this solar system is, say, 5 light years away from the Sun.

But we can assume that Navigatoria solar system didn't pop out out of nowhere in this universe (which would explain why humans still live on Earth but have completely different geopolitics and history), so if this would be true then "our" solar system and Navigatoria solar system would interacted with each other essentially long enough to clear potential asteroid fields at this point.
Or Navigatoria solar system could also be passing solar system and it happened that for the next few thousand years will be relatively close to "our" solar system. Maybe even those "tons of meteors" you mentioned are the reasons why Earth in this story is quite different from our.

And like I said Gliese 710 will pass our solar system much closer than 0.5 light year but scientist aren't saying Earth or our solar system will be doomed because of this. Also they were other stars that passed near our sun in the past.
