Can I play Nier replicant after only watching the automata anime? Or would you say playing the game is crucial to fully grasp the story? Maybe they left out some content that's why I'm asking.
And regarding replicant, do you think that game can be played with another person in the same room? Talking about fan service

I don't see why you couldn't play a game with somebody in the room but the anime told pretty much the same story the game did.

Yes, you can play Replicant and Automata independently, though. The only thing they do is making the story and experience more comprehensible. Note that Automata has different routes and endings, and the anime only did some of it.

I'd say Replicant is milder than Automata when it comes to fan service. If you're not into anime and/or JRPGs in general you'd probably question a couple of things. But overall I'd say it will be fine. Both games are far from usual JRPGs.

Yes you can 100% play NieR Replicant after just watching the Automata anime. That’s because the Automata anime covers mostly everything from the video game. Also more importantly, Replicant actually takes place before the story of Automata so you would be perfectly fine going into it without knowing anything about Automata. It would honestly prob be best if you finished Replicant and then went to play the Automata game after that, so you would then understand the story before Automata and then could play the game for yourself and get even more details that the anime doesn’t include

This anime covers endings A,B,C, and E, although they do change the canon a bit. In fact, the whole idea of the show is that it presents a different timeline of the same events, a “different outcome despite the same circumstances” (if you know you know), which makes a lot of sense in the canon. Plus I loved the additional personality that the show gives all of the characters.

The games have a similar feel to the anime, I played through all endings in both Replicant and Automata and loved all of them, definitely recommend.

You could play either without playing the other. One is not necessary to understand the other. But you should also play automata, as the anime is very different from the game.

you can play nier replicant without playing nier automata as someone who has played both alot I recommend playing replicant first bc there are little things in replicant that are referenced in automata but overall you can play either with out playing the other

Replicant is:

1. mostly unrelated since its thousands of year before automata

2. the original version of it actually came out before automata, so if anything it would have made more sense to do it the other way around.

3. even automata isn't as fanservice heavy as you think. you can stare at 2Bs butt with camera, you can even explode yourself to burn her dress, but they don't just happen, you kind of have to actively go out of your way to do it.

basically you get as much ass as you look for. no more, no less.
