I'm not liking ML so much, it's a lot of red flag, but I think the purpose is to make him like a cat: it's not us who choose to adopt them, they're the ones who choose us (Kume deciding to live with Nogami), they're a a little angry and they run away at first (the spilled juice thing), but after you gain trust they don't want to leave our side; They disappear for days, but we know they always come back (ideally, don't let them go out unsupervised, but people often think that way).

But I feel like it didn't fit with a human being, because that makes it seem like Kume is pretty toxic.
