Eight episodes in, I think Komari is the best match for Nikumizu. Is that supposed to change at any point?

Before I started watching this, based on everything I saw on social media and in terms of fan art and buzz, Anna was basically the fan favorite (and she is definitely the girl the show itself seems to put an emphasis on, she gets top billing, she is the first one we see, etc.). But I don't know, eight episodes in at least it feels like Komari is the best option for Nikumizu so far (and also just the most interesting character of the three main girls in general). She has actual nuance and depth to her character that goes beyond her romantic arc and a couple of cute quirks, she has actual pathos. Nikumizu and her share more interests than Nikumizu and any of the other two girls. Nikumizu and Komari share a very effotless chemistry, with both teasing each other and opening up around each other and allowing themselves to be vulnerable in a way they don't with anyone else. And Nikumizu himself definitely seems to be fond of her in a personal way that he doesn't seem to be for the other two, he goes out of his way to help her and pick up on cues on her behalf in a way that his character otherwise does not.

As of right now at least, I would say Komari is definitely the best fit for Nikumizu, and the best of the losing heroines. Is there something in the last four episodes that is supposed to make me change my mind? I know there is a big Anna episode at some point, and while she has gotten a couple of great ones, there hasn't been anything yet that makes me feel she is particularly better suited for Nikumizu than the others are (or that Nikumizu is even interested).

I won't spoiled anything (Probably) but I think shikiya is the best girl and the one deserves to be with the mc. My heart is still broken and I'm still suffering the rejection she gets (i won't tell from who) but she is still trying her best to impress him. Please, I can't watch her suffering like this, It's been very painful reading the new chapters.

i wonder which one rejects shikiya bcoz so far in anime, haven't seen her interacting to other boys other than Nukumizu, but i kind can take a guess who..

After watching the whole season, I also thought Niku and Komari had the best and most natural chemistry. Lemon got along well with Niku as well but it kinda bugged me how rude Anna would be to him sometimes. I don’t think Komari and Niku have any feelings for each other beyond friendship though. Doesn’t mean that they wont ever in the future…
But I haven’t read the light novel so I don’t know how it ends. I hope the show doesn’t just meander around without any meaningful plot developments.

Or maybe I’m just biased because Komari reminds me of Kobeni from CSM and I just found her screams/noises to be cute/hilarious.

Episode 12 perhaps..

Don't know anything about Shikiya or even that new kouhai. But so far Yanami has the best chemistry with Nukumizu. This has a good chance of developing into nothing. Because of how unconfident he is also how disgusted he is with her eating.
Komari and Nukumizu and are very similar that's why the click together. But this same thing going to cause a problem few episodes later.
They looks very good friends (same case as Yanami but with more similar interests) but the fact that

gives Komari a good chance on hindsight.

I wouldn't agree with you on that cause I'd you look closely at the plot it keeps pulling all three of the girls to nukumizu so if he was to fall for one of them he ends up repeating the same thing all over again.......so I would say none of them deserves the guy

I genuinely hate the idea of this series going romantic, because what made it so effective for me in the first half were the genuine platonic, supportive friendships between these characters. Turning it into a "who gets the dick" contest transforms it from something fresh and nuanced into just Another Harem Romance which is the last thing I want to see at this point in my life.

The season ending with that harem implication is what made me drop it down to a 6/10 from a shaky 7.

If you get that far into the show without realizing that it doesn't seem particularly interested in pairing off Nikumizu romantically at all, you certainly will by the last episode.

He made three new friends. He cares about them and they care about him. That's what it's really about, even if it has to twist some harem tropes to make that point.
