I know it's not Tuesday so let's just pretend it is, I've recently been getting a friend of mine into anime and it seems like we have quite similar taste, as they also loved some of my favorites such as Re:Zero, Steins;Gate, Vinland Saga, Made In Abyss, yadda yadda, and one of their favorites is Mushoku Tensei. Which, if you can infer from the title you can see where this is going.

One of my other friends who also loves monogatari also.. let's just downplay by saying they like dubious Shinobu visuals. So they often post Shinobu gifs involving her feet n shit in the spaces we use.

Now, monogatari is also one of my favorites, so I planned on taking the original friend I mentioned though it, as I explained it's a masterpiece of literature that tought me how to interact with the sisters living rent free in my head, how to brush my teeth, and other less important stuff, so I suggested it next, but they refuse to because of how degenerate it comes off purely due to the gifs friend B posts. The issue I have with this, is that they are tolerant of the material in Mushoku Tensei, because it's an isekai... So yeah unlucky, Shinobu feet pics ruined everything. Bait used to be unbelievable, but then I realized it wasn't bait...

How do I deal with this terrible situation, do we watch LankyBox videos on youtube instead?

Make them an offer. Tell them you'll watch whatever anime they want you to watch if they watch Monogatari series. Make an approximate equivalent time investment or offset it so that it is a better deal for them. Or make a different kind of deal that applies on a more personal basis (e.g. you'll play a video game they want you to play).

Was thinking about it, the issue is they want me to play League of Legends or All The Mods 9 in minecraft which both sound like I fear for my sanity

well theyre just missing out. let them be. it happens and just watch it yourself

people always think of monogatari as degenerate or the shit but the story tops it all, how insane the whole story line is and stuff should get way more appreciation than the 5 second araragi gives to every girl everytime he meets them.

and if you say that, you will be called cap or the shit, fuck you whoever thought of that.
monogatari is more than just degeneracy and porn. have you seen the fights he does?

all the mods 9 is fun. league is not. but TFT is fun

minecraft all the mods is just about you exploring the mods. theyre cool and all, no machinery for most of the things

Are your friends really refusing the anime out of personal distaste, or just because they fear being viewed as degenerates?

If they’re genuinely rejecting it out of personal distaste I cannot understand their logic. If its the latter, I cannot empathise with them.

If they’re not interested, then they’re just not interested, and that’s that.

If they’re interested in the premise but hesitating on the show, then try the books. You get even more of Nisioisin’s godly dialogue, but without the visual fanservice. And if they get filtered by Bakemonogatari book one, then hey, that’s fine.

If they can set aside their reservations about the fanservice, then they can enjoy dozens of episodes of Shaft’s psychedelic style while listening to the excellent voice acting.

And once they’re fully hooked and have no chance of escape, then maybe they can upgrade from Shinobu feet pics to Shinobu bath scenes.
