I don’t want to make a comparison thread or anything like that; not the intention of this thread.

If a anime that came out on April 2nd 2022 can get a second season with only a 7.28 rating; I think Mayonaka Punch has a good chance of getting another season.

Mayonaka Punch may not have broken new ground, but it checked all the right boxes for me. If anyone is familiar with the source material, I'd appreciate insight into whether there's more content to adapt given the anime finished before a chapter 2 could be published. The 3-4 minutes of extra content have me hopeful for a potential announcement. What do you think? Did you enjoy Mayonaka Punch enough to want a Season 2? Let me know!

Note: I say it all the time, while MAL ratings aren't comprehensive (given that not all anime fans use the platform both domestically and internationally), a 7 and above should hold some significance right?? Then again this might be the beginning of the 5 stages of the end of a anime season :( hate it when a good seasonal comes to an end.

PA Works sadly almost never does sequels to their originals.

Really the only indicator I'd say there is for a sequel right now is that they didn't really get to the end of the story just a good stopping point. Might not be enough for a season but I'd assume something like a movie or ova to get to the actual 1 million goal.

I'd rather have PA Works make Bravern S2 (actual peak fiction)

Not gonna happen imo if they'd wanted a longer story they would've done a 2 Cour off the bat. 🦇

a second season I don't think maybe an ova to show us the achievement of 1,000,000 subscribers and maybe finally live biting Masaki, Pa works has always made ova for its original anime and that "see you soon " (matane) in the postcard of the final episode means definitely something. there are still some interesting plots that Pa works could use for a sequel like the figure of the mother, the past in detail of live and yuki, because mother's blood flows more in them?, maybe insert some bad vampires as antagonists that would go against the channel by not accepting that vampires work with a human. Or more importantly the future of the Mayopans.. they are vampires they don't age, they won't be able to make videos forever and what would Masaki do, continue her life as a human or join the others who are now like a family to her. So the material is there, the problem is that.. it's a comedy and I'm afraid that Pa works hasn't thought of these serious resolutions, leaving the story to itself. I hope I'm wrong because I'm the first to want a sequel, but already with an OVA or maybe I'd be very happy. Another thing pa works does with original anime is use the manga to cover topics not covered in the anime. Overall I want to be positive, we just have to wait. For now what we have to do as fans is follow the twitter page, continue to spread the word and recommend the anime and buy light novels and manga when they come out in our countries

There is a basic problem; an anime's rating is not the factor that makes a studio decide whether to make a second season or not. There are anime with a rating higher than 8 that have not received a second season, the decision factors are others.

anime studios don't make whole seasons of television based off MAL scores. they base it off dvd sales n shit
