I was curious if anyone has read the novel and can say how the show compares in terms of story, characters, pacing, etc. It seems like the studio would probably be taking creative liberties with the visuals (ie the surreal changes in environments and character movements in some scenes - which I absolutely love). I think the fact that it’s animated in ultra wide screen also benefits the themes and aesthetics perfectly. I’ve only started Hyouka but you can tell it has similar vibes with the solving mysteries and focus on character’s actions (feels like the author must have a specific focus for his narratives). I’ve seen it be called a niche show or a show about nothing, which I can understand, but I hope it delves more into some deeper themes and character motivations, which it seems like it’s alluding to. Also curious why it’s only a 10 episode series. I’ve seen 12, 13, or 11 episode seasons but 10 is kind of an awkward number, and makes me think it’s only a 1 season type deal.

I haven't read the novels but i don't think they have done major changes with the story respect the original. Yes, the visuals about them in "different places while they talk" i suppose that are original from the anime only.
I believe it won't have more than one season and the 10 episodes only should be because of the source material being insufficient for more, because of the budget associated to the animation or to avoid the excess of repetition of "some trivial mistery for the main character to solve" in every episode.
