Kenichi Nishida (Niehime to Kemono no Ou episode director) is helming the anime at SynergySP and Vega Entertainment. Naokatsu Tsuda (JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken: Diamond wa Kudakenai director) is handling the series composition, and Nozomi Kawashige (Deatte 5-byou de Battle sub-character design) is designing the characters. Tatsuhiko Saiki (Otome Game no Hametsu Flag shika Nai Akuyaku Reijou ni Tensei shiteshimatta...) and Hanae Nakamura (Akuyaku Reijou nanode Last Boss wo Kattemimashita) are composing the music. The anime adapts Hiroaki Nagashima's adventure fantasy light novel, which began on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in January 2013. AlphaPolis began publishing the novel with illustrations by Kisuke Ichimaru in March 2015. The 24th volume went on sale on March 31. The series has a cumulative 1 million copies of its volumes in circulation. Kurono began serializing a manga adaptation on the AlphaPolis web magazine in December 2015.
