I'm Anime only, but I'am curious about how Light Novel readers feel about the arcs after the events of Season 2.

How would you rank all Arcs from 1-8?

Now I'm definetly hyped for it! The ending of Arc 6 is what saved it for me cuz I wasn't into the whole memory loss thing.

I don't think I have to justify the placement of Arc 6 and 4, so I'll start with Arc 5. It's a battle arc. Because of that it doesn't have as much character development as Arc 3, 4 and 6, but it still has some emotional moments and really shows how much Subaru has grown. Arc 8 is also a battle Arc, but the battles are much more intense and immersive and the result is much more important to the story than Arc 5 was. Sadly, it focused a lot on characters that I just wasn't that interested in, which is why it's only equal to Arc 5. Arc 3 is where Re:Zero really starts, but it is hard to watch/read because Subaru is still incredibly frustrating. Arc 7 sometimes felt like it lacked a clear direction and Arc 1 and 2 are basically just prologues to set up important characters and the world, which they do well

@Yosakusan Is Rem your favorite character, by any chance? I just noticed that your ranking is basically the same I would rank Rem's importance in each arc xD

I see alot of folks have arc 5 either in the middle or lower rank. So is enjoyment of S3 for the anime gonna be peak or average? The 1st ep of S3 made it seem like they're setting up a huge battle in the middle of the watergate city. So I'm guessing that most of y'all ain't a fan of war arcs in stories?

@evertonharvey You are kinda right. As a novel Re:Zero shines more in it's characters than in its action, which is why it's not as highly rated as the deeper arcs like Arc 6 & Arc 4.
It still isn't a bad Arc by any means and the community still looks forward to the anime very much since an action Arc is obviously perfect for an anime adaptation.
If anything I'm more concerned that they fuck up the adaptaion of my personal favorite (Arc 6), as I cannot see a way they can do it justice in the anime.

It has nothing to do with white fox. If anything I'm glad they're doing it, as you can see Re:Zero is a passion project for them.

It is kinda hard to describe without spoilers, but for example, there are two characters that are very similar and I think it will be difficult to show who's who in the anime. But you also can't give them different clothes or something, because that would destroy the plot.

It also has a lot of internal monologues, which I hope will not just be portrayed by the characters standing still and a voice line being played in the background.

Overall I'm still in good hopes with the anime and just wanted to say that Arc 5 is so easy to adapt in comparison that no one really thinks they're gonna fuck it up

My ranking goes:
Arc 7-8
Arc 6
Arc 4
Arc 5
Arc 3
Arc 2
Arc 1

Arc 9 is currently right behind 6. Arc 7 to me was so incredible and I loved it a lot. It started off so great and then eventually died down but kept its momentum with each phase of the web novel having one incredibly hype thing. It’s more of a set up arc than anything but still had some of the best moments in re zero. Todd was truly the best antagonist on a psychological level that we’ve gotten so far. Al is currently on track to beat that though. One of my favorite units in arc 7/8 was Heinkel, Cecilius, Rowan, Grovy and Al. They all had their moments and while the undead attacked, we got to see some incredible characterization of the Priscilla camp. Arc 7 also grew Garfiel even more for me. Him against Kafma was amazing because they both had conflicting ideals and it was pretty amazing to see him later fight Mezoreia. The way he beat him was finally swallowing his pride and taking Cor Leonis’ effects. A lot of people took Garfiel as randomly powering up in that fight as bad writing but I thought it was more this instead. I also really liked rem in this arc and how little screen time she got because although people love her, I honestly don’t care about her as much as other characters after arc 4 in the Emilia camp. I also liked how her character changed and her epiphany was finally understanding that she can’t hide the fact that she already knew why Subaru hated Louis throughout the arc 7 and 8. Yorna and Tanza were pretty good characters to characterize that side of Vollachia and the truth of Yorna being constantly reincarnated was a great part of the story, especially when Eugard was reincarnated and it was revealed. Vincent was a great standpoint character and Medium was a pretty good character to standby him. Flop and the stargazers section of the novel was super interesting to me and I hope he expands upon it later. The villains were pretty sick in arc 7 and sphinx’s appearance was wild in arc 8. Rowan just being some random character killed in a bar by Todd while he was drunk and passed out in arc 7 to being the father of the strongest person in Vollachia was insane to me on a reread and while reading comments on the mostly recently updated arc 8 chapters. Hailbel’s and Cecilius’ main story appearance were hype as fuck and Cecilius’ named chapter was probably one of the best fights in re zero. I haven’t even said anything about Priscilla because it goes without saying. Tappei made one of the greatest female characters and stripped her away just as she was getting me to love her as a character. Of all, arc 7 had so many great moments to set up arc 8 and arc 8 concluded it with an amazing ending to wrap up Vollachia.
