If we are being honest, it really doesn't do anything that it didn't set out to do, but that's what actually makes it unique, how many series where the title say the characters are dating or married, but when you actually read it, it starts off as a contract marriage or in a marriage just for appearances, where the relationship begins and ends the same way as in any usual romance manga And hey, to be clear, I am not saying that can't work. These authors back out of the synopsis for a reason, no one wants to start a story in an unfamiliar place and maybe get lost later, and everyone wants to play with the staple, will they or won't they in the romance genre but not this time. Surprisingly, surprisingly, this is one of the few romances that actually bites the bullet. It starts where it said it would, in the way it said it would, leading to the plot interesting plot consequences you thought it would, without the same slow burn you can find all over mangadex. (And to be clear, I like slow burns, but if your title or premise implies an already established bonfire, then you should deliver, and for once, this random series looks like it will do that Just for fun, here is a list of some stories I could remember off the top of my head that implied a established relationship, but the romance still begins from zero: My Husband Hides his Beauty I Became The Hero's Mom Maybe meant to be Remarried Empress dating doctor dill Fiancé Observation Log I Hate That I Love You Please Marry Me With Divorce in Mind I Became The Villain's Mother Taisho Otome Fairy Tale The Newlywed Diary of a Witch and a Dragon Charming the Duke of the North I'll Do That Marriage (I like a bunch of these, but they simply don't have the established relationship the title or synopsis suggests) |
