I’M DESPERATE TO KNOW WHAT THIS SCENE IS REFERENCING

HEELLLLLLP!!! HELLLLP MEEEE!!!

I’m kidding, but I am actually trying to figure out specifically what this one scene in Episode 1 at [15:57] Shikanoko is parodying/ referencing *(Emphasis on [16:01 - 16:03] with the head-swing being a call to something). I swear I’ve seen it before, but I can’t find anyone talking about or listing the abundant amount of references made throughout the episode.

I keep thinking it’s a reference to either Re:Zero (with Emilia saying something), A Whisker Away (thought there was a scene that’s similar to it but not it), A Silent Voice, K-On, Kokoro Connect, Little Busters or Tamako Market (it really sounds like VA changed their voice to sound like the inflection of Tamako too). But, I can’t literally go through every episode and movie checking for a 5 - 15 second scene, or it might be longer in terms of the origin. It’s on the tip of my tongue, and I’m sure I’ll feel stupid once/if someone points it out.

TL:DR: Anyone know what scene from a different anime in Ep.1 at [15:57], what Shikanoko is referencing?

Pretty sure it's referencing Kana Arima from Oshi no Ko. Both of those characters even share the same VA.

@Piromysl I did check every episode, double checking scenes with Kana, not really anything remotely similar to like an ‘apology’ or ‘confession’ scene or any similar movements.

So I don’t think it is referencing Oshi no ko even though they are the same VA.

Idk which Season but I remember Kazuma from Konosuba doing this head tilt thingy, he does it all the time when hes sad or annoyed

@OmarSawaby I should’ve clarified better with that lol. The head tilt thing is synonymous with like a ‘straight man’ reaction or other sarcastic/ annoyed uses, but the way Shikanoko uses it I would say is more of like ‘facing someone to tell them something’ along with the build-up of her talking as if she was hurt, aka, painful love confession or admitting something. I meant the head tilt thing as in being symbolic of the scene (the hair fluttering as she faces us, etc), mb.

Feels like someone finally losing all their hopes and dreams after being told "you can't do it" by everyone around her?

I honestly can't see these 2 specifically referencing anything other than it being "getting rejected", "losing their motivation" etc
