Season 2 has some new directors:

• The chief director is Yūji Haibara, who's only instance of being a series director was on Slime Diaries. Otherwise he has mainly various Visual Design, Graphic Design, Special Composite credits on series like Slime, Stars Align and Comet Lucifer.

• The new main director is Shintaro Inokawa, who's a veteran from the 90s. He has episode director credits for Mushishi, Osomatsu-san, Divine Gate, Boruto, Stars Align, and most recently, Yuru Camp and Migi to Dali. For Blue Lock S1, he did storyboards for episodes 15-17, and storyboard assistance for episodes 18-20 and 22, but didn't direct any himself.

not a promising staff still the main problem with blue lock anime is the poor animation direction works lots of offmodel drawings because of a tight production schedule and i expect this new season to have another tight schedule since they just release a movie before this

All we can really do now is matter what happens is hope for the best. I’m hoping with a new change in staff the animation will improve.

@baymaxemon but there is now a dedicated action director though so if he is a super animator that can help improve the sakuga scenes

@deg Hopefully. Tadayoshi Okimura was the character designer for the original Captain Tsubasa anime, and he was action animation director on Days, the 2018 Tsubasa anime, and Mix season 2. But I couldn't find anything on sakugabooru with his credit on it, so I have no idea what his style actually is.

am i the only one, but i thought the animation was 'super good' in "blue lock". i didn't watch many sports anime's, so i don't know the standard for it. still i don't think their was anything disappointing about the animation (iam not much knowledgeable about art style though, is that what's not good)

The animation didn’t bother me. The general census from manga readers seems to be tho it’s way below the manga quality. Not the worst sports animation by far. I’m excited for S2 but I’ll prob pick up the manga at some point

Despite changes on direction it will be as good as the first one and even better maybe as 8bit became part of a Sunrise studio.

the animation was actually pretty damn good in the first few episodes (especially episode 1) but it kinda fell off in quality after that. a ton of still frames and dodgy cgi. overall it was still an enjoyable season, but yeah its definitely right to say that the animation quality was not up to par with the mangas art.

i read the manga after watching season 1, the art is some of the best out right now. that being said i thought the anime was good lol people just too spoiled.
