This is easily the stupidest episode up to this point which in a lot of ways makes it the best, especially since this is the first look at the new status quo with the grouchy new professor rather than the straitlaced initial one. Shows like this are obviously at least in some respects over-long toy commercials. But Combattler V's yo-yo is such a weird-yet-simple concept— and the fact that they chose to sell the audience on this with live action footage these cartoon characters watch on TV in-universe? It ends up being so bizarre it ends up being fun to watch decades later. And hey— it's pretty easy to convince kids yo-yos are fun.
