I'm pretty sure pirates even steal the sub too, so they are the exact same thing.

@MavenTails What do you mean by "outing"? Why should people pay for something Japanese get for free on their TV? And not everyone lives in the USA or UK and can use Netflix or whatever is the "official" source of anime nowadays. If those platforms want to compete with pirates, they should do it with service and convenience, like Steam does.

"Piracy is almost always a service problem and not a pricing problem", when pirating is more convenient than buying legally you are incentivizing it on multiple levels. This has proven true time and time again for myself. (c) Gabe

In my region, Hidive doesn't distribute, so many of their shows aren't legally available. Otherwise, Crunchyroll has a decent price and pirates already use their subs anyway, so having an account compensates.
