| I’d like to watch this OVA (really just for the Ranma characters tbh) but I haven’t seen the original UY, just what’s released of the remake so far. Will it still make enough sense to be watchable? |

Yes, had no problem when I watched it. You can also watch the movies with just the first season of the remake’s context.
Urusei Yatsura is not a super complex narrative, once you get all the characters you can watch anything.
