The anime started really well. In fact, I'd say those were one of the best two episodes I've ever seen. So artistic, so dramatic, so beautiful. Then the guy goes to the future and it all begins falling apart. What in the world lead the team behind it to such a shift? Like, at this point, I'm not even sure what is happening or what is this anime about. It was already confusing at the start, now it is plain nonsense. Also, why all the gore? Who thought this was a good idea? Who even likes to watch all of this brutality...

the anime is tagged horror and gore, and the first eps showed the colour, so you shouldn't be that offended.

lets say that the hole thing is entertainment for a very lonely immortal vampire. the lonesome kuromitsu was chased by the red army who was after the secret of immortality. then the chance encounter with kuro. I'm not sure if her feelings for him were genuine but his were. And he went and pledged eternal love and companionship to her and she took his pledge literally.
what follows are different scenarios where she plays hide and seek with him through the centuries. using the red army which became a Toul for her not a threat.
the ending will explain it all. also the ending is open cause it offers a alternative.
it's not a mainstream anime and the plot is unusual so not everyone can enjoy such an anime.

I'm not offended, just shocked at how badly the anime turned out to be considering the first two episodes. There's even a noticeable decrease in art, animation and sound quality after the second episode. All of the characters you see in the third episode onwards are painfully generic. It's as if it was another anime altogether.

The first two episodes felt like a classic theatre play. So good. Really makes me wonder why it turned out this way. Remembered me of Mugen no Juunin, which is miles ahead of this anime (at least the newer one, I didn't watch the older version).

well if the changes put you off that much, sorry to say that the main story is set in that post apocalyptic or dystopian world with the characters of that world playing the main side roles. you'll have to wait till the last ep to see something of the same quality of the first eps.

Nah, I think they did a great job conveying mc's confusion of what's going on
