This twitter post is pretty much reveals what kadokawa produced and what they don't.

Kadokawa is no longer involved in the production of dal aside from distribution purpose.

The anime is largely funded by hot game studio this can be seen by the logo on the official site. Been the way since season 4 and bullet. Is that good? Yes?

Kadokawa almost never adapt light novels to the end. Meaning adaptations stop when the light novel stops. It also avoid productions from having resources extracted for other shows. Kadokawa lacks dedication to one series. They will make decisions based on what sells but if that doesn't sell, they will scrap it and push another series.

They have handed out re zero licenses to game developers like candy then immediately revoke them and shutdown the game once they cannot get free money. They have consumed resources to greenlit the konosuba spinoff only for it to sell <1k discs showing a mismanagement of production. Of course there are classroom of the elite debacles.

And of course for dal, they crammed vol 12 into season 3 and cut resources to divert to other projects since the light novel is ending.

By divorcing itself from kadokawa, it has shown how much can be accomplished. Dal iv ended up being one of the highest selling animes of 2022. It gave huge competition to spy x and kaguya on polls. Had an extreme jump in merchandising and audience reception.

The more this success continues...
The more bigger chances of a DAB sequel...

I really hope we will have a DAB sequel in the near future...

@Hitagi__Furude dab isn't as good as the main ln novel. Not even remotely. A encore adaptation or the kurumi case files is far better.

The first two seasons of DAL were pretty decent. Even the OVAs and the movie weren’t all too bad (even though the material for the movie was below mediocre). Then was DAL Season 3 which was such a painful experience that I almost didn’t give DAL another chance.

So it makes sense how the increase in quality for Season 4’s (and hopefully Season 5’s) production is related to Kadokawa handing the reins to someone else. Not only does this assure the fans better quality control, it seems like we’ll get even quicker announcements for further productions. I hope Kadokawa does this for some of their other properties that they are currently leaving to rot.

Interesting to see, I've seen the Hot Game Studio leaks translated from Bilibili, stating that they are basically going out of business. Without HGS funding DAL, I'm worried about the future of the franchise given Kadokawa's record.
