It's decent, maybe a little boring or confusing but has nice art and animation, definitely not bad

I didn't pay attention to the writing, but I can tell you this:

the beginning was mid, and when it was starting to get a little bit to the middle of the movie, it was getting a little better but not by much till it reached the middle and after. I loved the movie when it got to the middle towards the end so I ended up giving it a 9/10 for that reason

Meh, that's for you I enjoyed the movie a lot. I loved the plot and the connection between Mutsumi and Masamune. I gave it 8/10.

Ya im with ya there, it was a super generic movie. At least the dynamic cinematic shots were good. But characters were just standard shinkai/pretty anime film characters

the visuals and sound were appealing but the plot was mid. the characters felt bland as well. i’m not sure if i was disappointed bec i wasn’t expecting anything lol

I felt the characters werent likeable, and i couldnt get emotionally invested in this movie like with maquia. The writing and story was just off. Definitely not mari okada’s best work.

I mean I just watched it because it was out so I had no hopes I thought it looked pretty but the story was lacking at the end I was just very confused at it all I mean even the music wasn’t that good it was just kinda like devil man cry baby(don’t come at me for that) I though it looked very good but everything else was meh

Here is what I took away from it:
1. It was mad weird in the beginning with the alternate reality girl.
2. Most of the characters were terribly written. Female MC would just be pissed most of the time and you don’t know why until 3/4 of the movie.
3. Pacing was awful. Beginning was so slow and ending was so fast.
4. Overall plot was super weak. I get what they were going for, but the ending “enjoy life” narrative didn’t really fit the rest of the movie.
5. The “whisking” away part due to high emotions was a weird and bad key plot. It didn’t make sense and they just kinda didn’t care about it anymore towards the end. If it was similar to like Kiznaiver emotion plot device, it would make more sense.

It looked super good but the characters and plot were subpar. And I NEVER am critical about anime, but this movie just didn’t work. Idk what is it with about 50% of anime movies being god awful.

The right mindset when watching an anime is hoping that it will break your top 10

I think it was better than suzume that came out in 2023 .
I think overall maboroshi directing was way better than any anime movie I've seen .
The chemistry between the main boy and girl was very good kinda remind me if myself yourself anime.
The movie vibes was like 2000 or 90s and i really like old theme .
Music was very good and i really like the ending even though I don't like happy endings .
I would say for me movie was 8.4/10 and it's rewatable .
Writing was overall 7/10 it's still good if u understand the depth of a character in like what author wants to tell us .
Animation was very good I would say 8.8/10.
One of the best movie I've watched after silent voice and I want to eat ur pancreas .

I would argue that it's not similar to kiznaiver .
The plot was really focucued on mc and mutsumi and itsumi was there to realise mc feelings for mutsumi.
I would say it's similar to true tears anime .
Kiznaiver was a disappointment but this ending was not disappointing even though I don't like happy ending I like this one .

you ain't the only one bro it was pretty mid could've watched something better with the time it took from me I was expecting plenty since I saw a trailer two years ago and it looked great and I assumed since it took so long to release and was made by mappa it must've been great but no it's generic, music is genric story was ok but it could've been so much more rather than girl who fell in love with her dad and all characters are forgettable or annoying but all in all its a 6/10

I think the pacing was a little off in certain areas, and there were a few scenes left out that could have been included to make the ending better (such as the parents meeting up with their daughter again). But I give it a solid 8/10 + 1 for art, for a final 9. The expressions in the animation were some of the best I've ever seen. I don't get the hate.

All anime movies follow this trend of being very pretty but the most mid stories. Apparently this story was being written as a novel and the creator gave up and thought they could do better as an animated movie, explains why the story is a mess. The second act to the third act is such a drastic change in character relations. All of a sudden everybody is so deeply in love with each other that they can’t hold back or live with out each other. It’s weird.

Just started watching with no info on it and like halfway I realised: oh no, is it another Mari Okada flick? And it was, and my disappointment was immeasurable. Hate how it always starts interesting enough and ends with dekalitres of snot and tears for no reason. Emotions my ass, give me plot that makes a smallest bit of sense.
Also imagine the couple in real world finding their kid daughter years later in full makeup and a wedding dress. That would be a scene, lol. Who took you, little girl? Masamune! Masamune... as like your dad? Yes, but he was younger! Please, show on a doll... 😏
Also how bad you should treat a literal child for her to go fully non-verbal from a normally developed kid. Teen Mutsumi was a monster.

Yeah, I guess I didn't like it, but not for the same reasons.
