I love Junji Ito's manga, whether it's short stories or the famous Uzumaki. But the old anime was crap, and now I watched episode 1 of this one and it's even worse. Bad animation, comedy and not scary at all. wtf

Why can't they just adapt the source material in a normal manner like other manga are adapted? This is so frustrating.
If you haven't watched "Fantastic Children", don't talk about "best anime". Thank you.

I mean his work is pretty heavily mixed between horror and comedy so I don’t think any adaptation would change that… are you sure you’ve read his works?

I think the adaptations are pretty good, I mean you've watched only one episode, the more you watch the better they become, and Yes, if you have read the manga you should be able to see that the adaptation is pretty much like the manga. I think they did an amazing job and managed to represent them in a very cool way.

Well, Itou's goal isn't to actually scare his readers in the first place (if I remember correctly). His goal is more like to make his readers feel uncomfortable, disgusted, uneasy, etc etc.
I do agree with you on the fact that the second season isn't as good as the first one, as well as with your opinion on the art-style. Though, I do appreciate the makers' efforts. I think that the (or at least a) reason for the difference between the manga's and the anime's art could be because of Itou's unique style of drawing. It might not be the easiest task to animate and capture the same dark/eerie charms as the manga at the same time.
(Yes, it's also a bit comical at moments, but that's something Itou has implemented in his works himself ;p)

Uzumaki is our only hope of seeing a complete Junji Ito manga adapted (in a dignified way)

This is better than any of the other adaptations imo. Also, some stories are really good, some don’t have any horror factor it seems. So hit or miss. Overall, I was quite hype when it came out esp since it was 3 days before my bday lol. I gave it 7/10

the first episode was the worst. they were actually decent, a million times better than the previous adaptation. the Hanging Balloons and Tomie: photographs were scary and done well in my opinion
obviously nothing compares to the man himself

just finished the series 3/10...not scary...they didn't spend much on this. I think the next one should be black and white. it would look way better like that but yeh. the studio that made this should probably quit...
