And so we end with Nanao going to live with his real father and his grandmother burning herself to death while Yuta and Mana continue searching for a way to end their immortal curse. At least I think that's still their goal, but who can say? The more I read the less it seemed important.

Anyway, having just marathoned all 16 chapters in one sitting I'd say this was pretty decent. It was certainly darker than most of Takahashi's more major works, and at times reminiscent of them. Mainly in regards to character designs for me. Like that big bald dude from the 2 parter with Yuta and Rin. He totally reminded me of the big bald brute who kidnaps Kagome under the demon crow's influence in very early Inuyasha. It's not a perfect match, but close enough. That two parter may have actually been my favorite come to think of it. Which is weird because it was 2 of only 3 chapters without Mana involved. The other without her was actually pretty good too, and had another character that reminded me of someone from Inuyasha: Natsume, who resembled Rin. Had a bittersweet ending, but then most chapters did. The episodic narrative was alright, but I never really felt like Mana got much of a chance to shine outside her introductory 2 parter, which I probably would've published after the 3 chapters without her if it were me, but considering these were released in irregular fashion I doubt Takahashi had that planned out and hindsight is 20/20 as they say. But this was definitely more of a Yuta-centric story for sure, he being the only character to appear in every chapter, which is fine.

I knew going in that this series ended open-ended, but I still enjoyed it well enough. And if Takahashi ever decided to draw more I'd certainly check it out, though as far as I'm aware it's considered finished. I dunno how long it's been since she did one of these, but considering Chapters 13 and 14 were set in early 1992 it's probably been awhile. Ah well, either way I'll say 7/10, and Happy New Year to all! Well almost. ;)
