I do hope for a season 3!! However, one season usually covers 4 novels. Season one and two cover volumes 1-8. There are 9 officially out right now. It takes 2 years for Yuka Tachibana to write four novels. However, I am not sure since the last episode of the end said "fin". So it is extremely unlikely for a 3rd season Unfortunately.

I was sad to see that “fin” at the end, since I was hoping for another season.

But without needing the Saint powers any longer, there is less to show.

It will mostly be the interactions between the characters after she gets married.

Unless they get into a war with someone, which the saints powers are needed again?
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

We can hope!
It ended so wonderfully, but I'm sure there's more story to tell. Even if it isn't as grand, lots of solid 'side characters' could be given some screen time too.

The only poor continuation I could see would be "she loses her powers & must go on a quest to find them" or such nonsense. They CAN live happily ever after AND have interesting stories to show us, eh?

@ejleon There's enough in the LN to make a 3rd season. I guess, depending on how well sells do for it.

@Moppit actually there is only one novel (volume 9) for season 3 since they need four novels for a whole season.

@sweetlvr4u you do realize there is a difference between writing pace and the frequency of volumes/books published? MANY publishers world-wide keep an author's manuscript 'under wraps' for a period of time. there is: editing, proofing, prepping the promotional work, sending the author out on book tours and press junkets, and other considerations. so, the only way to analyze it would be known publishing dates in Japan.

to start with we've got a problem! Yuka Tachibana began serialization online in 2016 on the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō. so, like a TON of other books to anime these days, this one started out as a Web Novel. i'm not digging into press releases on Fujimi Shobo's acquisition of the WN and whatnot. that is just too much research.
therefore, here is the physical volume publication data from the wiki article:

1 February 5, 2018
2 October 5, 2018
3 July 5, 2019
4 February 5, 2020
5 October 5, 2020
6 June 5, 2021
7 December 3, 2021
8 December 16, 2022
9 December 14, 2023

as you can see, the WN most probably had enough usable content for the first 2 Volumes, since they came out the same year. then, the publications get a smidge spread out. not quite a year for Vol.3, not quite a year for Vol. 4 but Vol. 5 did show up that same year, not quite a year yet again for Vol. 6 but once more Vol. 7 came out that same year. THEN the publications SERIOUSLY spread out! ONE BOOK A YEAR ON ALMOST THE EXACT SAME DATE IN TWO YEARS? with Vol. 9 just showing up 5 or 6 DAYS ago in Japan!!!

as a result, the AVERAGE is much more spread out than the 2 years per 4 Volumes you stated. this is due to the 2 most recent Volumes having a ONE YEAR GAP EACH!

if as you say Season 1 was Volumes 1-4 at 12 Episodes and S2 was Vols. 5-8 also at 12 Eps... we can expect a S3 adapted from Vols. 9-12 at 12 Eps. by 2026 or so. probably 2027 due to production schedules. this 2027 idea comes from S1 coming out April 2021 when Vol. 4 was published Feb. 2020. that means Studio Diomedéa had approximately 1 year and 2 months to complete S1. unless they received an 'early secret copy' of the Vol. 4 manuscript before it was physically published, which does happen from time to time. additionally, we have to consider S2 was first released Oct. 2023 when Vol. 8 was published Dec. 2022. a NINE MONTH GAP? yeah, riiiight. this nearly 100% PROVES Studio Diomedéa had advance knowledge of at least Vol. 8!

the 2027 date is assuming that Vol. 9 is NOT the finale for the franchise. if so, we're screwed with this franchise getting a S3 at 12 Eps. anytime soon. if Vol. 9 IS the finale... i expect OVA(s) streamed online and sold in disk format, or a Theatrical Release Movie. SAO Progressive's light novels have gone the 1 Vol. per movie route, Code Geass hasn't put out a TV series in forever just movies, and Rascal Does Not Dream Of... is going with the 1 Vol. per movie route as well, at least through the most recently released in-theater Light Novels (2 Vols. for Movie 1, then 1 Vol. each for Movie 2 and 3) to Movies adaptations.

@KiliianSleipnir Those are the japanese manga release dates but not the Japanese novel ones, but yes you are right but it is highly unlikely since they put fin. Usually fin is used to end a show similarly like in love is war, ouran highschool, & etc. now there could very well be ovas since there is a volume 9. There is a volume 10 in the making since Yuka has posted more on the online serialization website. So sadly there is no chance because it has the word "fin." If they hadn't put it we could actually speculate it. But the 4th volume came out on May 10, 2019 and published before the first season. But animation studio usually works with authors before they actually publish it so you are correct about that. I was just hoping lol I know it won't actually happen.

I've been reading the novels in the web series, and my mother recently got into the anime of this piece, so hopefully they will do a season 3.

Well, I feel that the speed of the web series has slowed down considerably since it was made into an anime, so even if they do a Season 3, I think they will either add more stories to the stock and give it more time or mix in some original stories.

On X a fan wrote to Tachibana-Sensei in comments

- Fan: "The proposal was great. I want them to get married in the third season. "
- Tachibana: "thank you!
I'm glad to hear you say that. ☺Wedding in the 3rd season...
I have to do my best to write it! "

I've been reading the novel and the manga, and I love the anime. I want to see more of Hawke and Sei. I want to keep hope for a third season

@sweetlvr4u :O oh dear, you are wrong and i was wrong too! i should have double and triple checked my work. i pulled those dates from the wrong chart. those were the JAPANESE publishing dates for the MANGA. damn! here is the corrected quote for the Japanese dates for the LIGHT NOVELS.

Vols. 5 and 6 were in the same year with a 7-month gap. 8-month gap between Vols. 6 and 7. 10-month gap between Vols. 7 and 8. finally, EXACTLY 1 year gap between Vols. 8 and 9. so your average is still incorrect since Vols. 2 and 3 then 8 and 9 had a 1-year gap apiece.

actually, fin is French for End, Fine (or good or excellent), Close (as in a door), Back (as in butt, ass, rear, the back of a book/page other physical object), Termination (as, in the end, like 'the end of May'). using it at the conclusion of a film HAS been an implication for around a century the FILM itself was at an end. NOT the serial that film was a piece of. you need to study your film history AND your French with a lil more attention to detail.

continued to publish online? that is peculiar. most authors are contractually forbidden from continuing PUBLIC WN work on a project already sold to a publisher. ah well, somebody had a better lawyer than the publisher this time.

with love is war, each time fin has appeared except for the movie 'First Kiss'... we got a sequel. did you forget this?

now let us compare anime release dates.
S1 April 2021.
S2 October 2023.
therefore, they had access to Vols. 1-6 for S1 and Vols. 7 and 8 for S2. if you're right on the split at Vols. 4 and 5 for S1 end and S2 start, Studio Diomedea worked on this project continuously.

next, an exploration of that continuous production schedule possibility for Diomedea. S1 of Saint ended June 2021 ONE MONTH after Saint LN Vol. 7 was published. Futsal Boys ran from Jan.-Mar. 2022, then came Isekai Yakkyoku from Jul.-Sep. 2022, next was Tensei Oujo to Tensai Reijou no Mahou Kakumei from Jan.-Mar. 2023 starting RIGHT AFTER Saint Vol. 8 was published, and finally Saint S2 was simultaneously released alongside Kamonohashi Ron no Kindan Suiri back in Oct. it does look complex but, if Diomedea did the work on Saint S2 piecemeal in-between other projects? it looks possible.

@KiliianSleipnir well yes studios work on more than one anime during the other production of other animes everybody knows that.

I said volumes 1-4 was published two years like the first from the fourth was two years away from each other. So in 2 years about 4 volumes😭😭.

continued to publish online- i was referencing the authors official story on her the online writting platform. even mangas typically get released in segments online for free on their legal websites before becoming a volume.

Love is war had a movie sequel but the anime tv series did end as of now. Now I didnt say the franchise ended I just said there probably wont be a third season. There could movie sequels.

Sounds like most ppls here thinks there won't be a season 3 cause there isn't enough materials left.

Which means, if they get anymore "afterwards" it would be as OVAs instead of a full season (or even one of those 8 episode seasons)

I had mixed feeling seeing "fin" there. On one hand I love the series and want more on the other hand it seems like a good place to end. I hope when there's more source they'll continue or make a movie but with the way things usually go it will be forgotten or ignored.

That would be awesome !!! A third season with the wedding of Sei and Hawke and their babies lol and mooore action from Sei on the romance because to my mind Sei is too shy, and passive with Hawke, and sometimes it’s a bit annoying, I just want to shake her lol 😝
