Who knew a standard "summer festival" episode could be this FULL of everything? It almost feels like I've watched three episodes, not just one, with how stuffed it was, both with silly shenanigans and actual personal drama, with a bunch of family bonding (in more ways than one, really). What's even more, not only does it manage to introduce some new characters still, but it's also mixed so well that it rounds out to be a real feel good episode in the end - while still leaving something to look forward to. Not sure I expected such depths from this sort of anime.

So these episodes all start out the same way- old hag sitting in her throne at the desk, with Maestro sitting on the sofa being an idiot. So now they have 10 members in the "choir", so they need to do that thing all anime that have to do with any pursuit of song or art or sport- ENTER A COMPETITION. People must compete, they can't just entertain people.
So they go to a festival, and watch as a group of guys takes the stage and does an idol *cough* I mean choir, performance. There's this same-face looking guy leading the group, who looks exactly like the twins who look like IT-kun... and he comes down to talk to Tenshi. At first it's friendly chitchat, but then the kid with the ugly face gets all mad because Tenshi says he's singing in a choir too.
That pisses him off. "I thought you were going to take over the family store" he says. WAIT. WHAT??
How in the hell does being in a choir while at school interfere with, have ANYTHING to do with whether he takes over the family business as an adult????????????????????
WTF is this in all these anime, every single activity a teenager in school does has to be what they do with the rest of their lives? He can't just be in a choir AND take over the family business years later as an adult? Does he have to read 800 books on running a family business, and study it in high school and pass an impossible entrance exam to run a family store in Japan? I don't get it.
At least Tenshi looks so cute in shorts and sandals.

Then Maestro walks up and starts shouting at the men performing drums at the festival. WHAT! How rude is that? Nobody is trying to stop him- he just waltzes over and starts yelling at them. How does that stand?
Then there's some really corny shit with this guy going "lalalalala" and everyone's reacting like it's some kind of special musical talent to just casually hum. Oh lord

At least the song at the end sounded really good. Very soulful sounding song.

Hayato Dojima did say it was a challenging song to sing but I think he did a great job and the award winning high school glee club with the background vocals continued to do another great job. Loved the song for both the insert song and the ED. Glad they put it on streaming services so soon.

Goofy episode. Definitely was cracking up a good while at the teacher popping like a balloon from Rika sensei continued ignoring of him.

Yazawa (Ei chan) had the best Yukato so cool and the twins with those boots was wow. Danbocchi and IT with the class yukata was great. actually loved IT standing up for otome to his dad was a cute scene.

Really lots of great moments, now can we have a beach episode please too. It's summer.

With 10 boys in the choir, Kawagoe Boys' can finally start on the Kanto Christmas Boys Choir competition, though Haruo has no seriousness to take the choir further. The Summer festival one is up first with Urawa Academy and Cardbocchi's middle-school friend Juu-kun leading the choir, and for an original song, it was surprisingly good. But the feud between Cardbocchi and Juu-kun, it's definitely more than just choir-related stuff.

Both Cardbocchi and Juu-kun were talented childhood kids, but running away is quite the opposite. And for Haruo to conduct taiko drums and Shizuo's dad finding him with the choir, the whole bodybuilding goof is just weird and cringe, with Haruo favoring singing above bodybuilding all else. Shizuo's mother is quite the bodybuilder herself, which is how Cardbocchi found Juu-kun in the first place, only to displace him when it came to the crunch. That's the same with both father and son finally reconciliating with one another.

All's well that ends well.

Haruo being himself will never not be peak comedy!

Same goes for Rita's reactions in the background!

Another perfect episode.
