| Very interesting way for the author to (indirectly) self-inset themself into the story. Also interesting that Dazai criticizes Yozo for reproaching himself, since if Yozo is merely a projection for Dazai's own life story, this would mean Yozo is reproaching himself for reproaching himself. Not sure how much of this is in the actual story, but it would be quite harrowing if Dazai hinted at his own death within the final chapters of a book that came days after his own suicide. Also, it looks like Junji Ito is back to doing his usual thing with the body horror and supernatural visions. Even the doppelgänger thing felt similar to his other manga Black Paradox. |
